Yep. Tighten the screws in the claw in the back (or add more springs) till the bottom of the bridge plate is roughly parallel with the top of the guitar. Strat orthodoxy is to have just enough tension that ur usual bending doesn’t pull the whole thing flat. Some folks like a touch of up-bend (small gap between the back of the bridge and body) but some like it clamped to the body so that a hand resting on the bridge can’t accidentally push it sharp. I like a bit of a gap so that when you bend with the trem it’s more of an up and down movement around the note. I also only have one strat and it’s set up with heavy strings and a high action for slide so… your preferences may vary.

It my daughter's guitar, no tremelo arm on it. I just noticed it when trying to practice earlier. Certainly from a looks point of view I'd prefer it flatter.
I'll mention it to her guitar teacher on Wednesday. He sold it to us and knows all about this kind of thing. I should tell him about this thread:)

If you’ve no tremolo arm then you might as well lock it down by tightening the springs up fully. It’ll help the tuning stability.

Compared with mine which is much flatter.
I say mine, it's only on loan, but with option to buy.

That does look like a floating bridge that should have a trem. You can either block it, deck it or set it properly for floating. This guy explains the differences
This guy shows a neat, simple way to set the trem and has a great channel too.

I decked mine… trem too much trouble.

Had my first rehearsal with a new band last night. Wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't met half of them before and have never played with any of them. Turns out it was super fun and I was struggling to keep up in a few places which I love! Here's the playlist the guy pulling it together made.

Last night we played Whipping Post by the Allman Bros, Going Down by Freddie King, What'd I Say by Steve Cropper, Pops Staples and Albert King and Can't You Hear me Knocking? by the Stones.
The ambition is to get a tight hour of blues/psych rock type stuff down and play a few local festivals next summer. On the strength of a couple of hours last night - this is eminently achievable. They're great and tasty musicians. I'm still psyched today.
Went a bit mad with gear last night and took three guitars, SG in standard tuning, my Tele for open G and my Strat for Open E. Had a moment when my Vibrolux seemed to have shat its pants, but it turned out to be resolved by pulling the footswitch. I did struggle with finding tomes and getting the balance right in the transition from bedroom volume to full band with a loud drummer. Everything seemed to be too clean or too compressed and mushy. More time needed fiddeling with my pedals and amp at full chat* I think.
*nothing like tbh. Think the Vibrolux was on 3 most of the night and PLENTY loud.

I'm selling a Squier jazz bass if anyone here is interested - hopefully at the reasonable price of £100 - here: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/382083/#comment16786402

I am determined to achieve silence.
Will a 1 meter roll of 25mm copper tape be enough for a Les Paul?
-
• #13336
Can't really visualise if it'll be enough - possibly not. It'll be tricky to tape the little hole where the switch goes though - conductive paint would be easier, but it doesn't look as nice.
-
• #13337
Its been painted too!
Im getting braided cable and everything. New CTS parts.
Thanks, I'll look for a 2/3m I certainly dont need a pissin 20m roll.
Edit; Im relocating pup switch, the switchcraft one is so much wider and I only use 3 pots. G&L wiring.

nice, what's the deal with the pickup? Is it a standard humbucker or something else going on with the rails?
-
• #13340
incredibly long shot but has anyone got a staytrem bridge in 7.25" radius for sale? Will probably just join the waiting list sooner rather than later if not
-
• #13341
Very nice. I quite like Reverend guitars - greg koch is a very guilty pleasure of mine and his T-style with the inbuilt preamp looks awesome.
-
• #13342
It’s basically a standard humbucker, Reverend sell them separately under the Railhammer brand. Apparently the massive poles/rails are the USP. Certainly seemed pretty versatile during the test drive - nice cleans but plenty of Randy Rhoads squeal too

Looks really good. I like a yellow & black guitar. Ebony fingerboard?
-
• #13344
Indeed! I now have the three main fingerboard options in the stable, which is quite fun.
This ticked a few “firsts” - chambered body, single pickup, korina, Wilkinson trem. Have enjoyed noodling around this evening, it’s a nice foil to my les Paul and mustang
-
• #13345
Ah, korina with a stain? Even better. What’s the scale length, 24.75”?
-
• #13346
Scale length yes. It’s actually a goldtop gold finish, I guess nitro. Little dash of sparkle, white binding. Neck has the same finish, which I normally don’t like but it plays fast

I know nothing about guitars so would be grateful for some advice. My 11yo did acoustic lessons for a couple of years but gave up in lockdown because she hated doing them remotely. She wants to start again, we are in the process of finding her a new teacher and she has an acoustic guitar, but she is getting into bands and I'd like to get her an electric guitar for Xmas. Any reason why this starter pack would be a bad idea?

I don't know if it would maybe be sensible to consider a 3/4 size guitar depending on how big she is? I think I switched from 3/4 to full size at around that age. Advice here: https://www.thomann.de/blog/en/guitars-for-kids-according-to-age-and-height/
Tension in the springs seems a bit loose. You can tighten them up so the the bridge rests wherever your preference is.
