  • I was really into these back in the day.. My ex-wife had a ceramica (without the digital display) which I seem to remember she paid £800 for brand new from dealer.

  • Does anyone know a good place to get my Seiko 7S26 movement serviced or replaced with the Seiko NH36A movement swap? I see this movement is discontinued and so is being replaced with this one.

Or anyone willing to do it for me as a personal project? You tube video is there too.

  • This absolute beauty just sold at auction, not in a place to buy right now but if I had the money I definitely would have, easily worth what it sold for in my opinion.
Jaeger, produced only from 1968 through 1971, big for the time 40mm.
Estimated to be around 300 - 500pcs. A few dial and bezel variants out there too, very, very cool.

  • That's gorgeous. What did it go for?

  • £4356 including charges and premiums.

  • When does a patina become a knackered old watch? 😁

  • You referring to the above?

  • In response to Dans post which I will take. I am now instead of looking to get it serviced just sell it on.

Anyone interested. I will also put it on classified too. £100? All working fine. Date time dial moving freely etc.

Just think it needs a service as I like to keep my things maintained.

  • You might have caught me out there.

But it could be a valid question? I am not sure I want it even tho it is a beautiful design.

  • Do you know the model reference? And a link to the auction if possible, would be curious what the movement is…

@Ordinata I’d posit all those scratches are just on the crystal and once it’s been polished/replaced it’ll look amazing - the bezel’s in great nick.

  • Movement is a Valjoux 72, same as the Daytona. These version were made in France, with even fewer having that written on the dial. Some people say they think they're maybe less than 100. Think this would easily reach double its price in a few years or sold by a dealer. Will try and find the listing.

@Ordinata Yeah it's mainly the crystal as @inchpincher said. For its age I think it's in amazing condition, once you clean it up it'll look amazing! Seen loads of other people advertising pieces that are way past this, 'tropical' dials that are just in plain bad condition, missing lume, damage due to the tritium etc. Guess it's always open to opinion anyway.

  • I have this Omega for sale if anyone's interested. Fantastic condition and quite recently serviced. Manual Cal. 265, 35mm. £390 posted from Sweden (Can write down value if requested for VAT:s sake).

  • I would feel the same way. It's a lovely watch but a lot of money for something so old and fragile.

  • old and fragile

The crystal is a bit banged up but no reason for the movement not to be solid, even after 50 years. If that's the original strap you could always put a replica on for daily wear.

  • Yeah cool, I kinda guessed it was a Val 72 because the lower pusher is perceptibly further from the crown than the upper but have never seen this reference before - found it now, Ref E 13001

I’m currently balls deep in a vintage Heuer phase and the 2447’s are also powered by teh sex Valjoux 72.

  • Very nice! Heuer really are chrono masters. Im guessing you probably follow already but check heuer_carrera and heuervintage on instagram if your not, great stuff on there.

A lovely 3647N went at auction the other week, second hand looked a bit battered though. Love them. They seem to do quite a few references with or without a tachymeter scale.

I was reading about how Dodane started making cases for multiple brands the same way Leonidas did when they linked up with Heuer. On your search just avoid looking at the resurrection of Leonidas...they didn't quite hit the mark.

  • Stunning movement. 😁

  • Val. 72 are the ford escort of chrono movements aren't they? Just ubiquitous because they are awesome and work.

I've a dedicated eBay search for them and I get all sorts pop up.

  • I think the 72 is a cut above if you’re being a column wheel snob, I’d give the Valjoux 7730/7733 the work horse title.

It’s a bit like Omega 321 Vs 861, there are good reasons they redesigned the movement for cam operation but the older chronographs just feel nicer when you actuate the button.

  • Talking of the Valjoux 72, did y'all see the Word & Wound collab with Nivada Grenchen that's going on sale later today? 38mm case, 20 pieces, with restored Valjoux 72s in them. $6,900.

  • Quite like the look.
    Not the price, mind.

  • Nice, I thought it was a (strange) ref. 1016 at first but it's a ref. 5500.
