Enjoyed Keown remarking about how the USA were dominating possession about 30 seconds into the game.
-
• #163353
🤣 yeah that 30 seconds they totally dominated

Oooh Australia why you do that...

thought the USA might take that game before kick off.
Really struggle with the logics behind this sort of reasoning. They’re bang average with 2 decent players in their squad. They don’t come up against decent opposition often enough. The American media hype is just that and once it gets regurgitated in the British press it looks like people outside of the US start to believe it too. They’ve done well to qualify in the first place and so too to get out of the group stages but that’s about it.
Netherlands will lose to Argentina once again. England look like a decent bet to me.

It was more a reflection of how poor Holland have been so far. But they started to look the business yesterday

Not seen anything from the US this tournament that made me sit up and pay attention, they’ve underwhelmed me no end. Just like Canada I guess.
As for NL There’s at least five teams ahead of them imo. England, France, Argentina, Brazil and Spain all look far stronger, especially for knockout matches.
The US will never be able to break free from being mediocre unless they play top tier opposition in meaningful matches more frequently. Merging CONCACAF with CONMEBOL or tournament between the 4 strongest teams from each federation would seem logical to me.

I really wish Garang Kuol had scored in the last minute of added last night. 18 years old and has lived a life already. From South Sudan, has migrated across several borders and has ended up in the Australian national team playing Argentina.
He signed for Newcastle a couple of months ago and is due in toon in January. I went to see us play Fulham when he was in the UK taking care of business and he was down the row from me in the away end. Totally unfazed.

Great seeing the likes of Cisse, Song, Addo etc, managing their national teams instead of some chain-smoking German/Austrian in their 70s. Think that’s key for developing African football.

Anyone watching matches with BBC in UHD? If so does it crash occasionally? Just got a 4k monitor and trying to work out if iPlayer on Samsung is buggy or if my internet speed can't handle this resolution. No error codes after a crash is super annoying.

Y’know we’ve not had extra time and penalties yet… 😬

Watching on ITV is a pain. Advertising breaks are bad enough but when over half are promoting gambling companies it’s more than demoralising.

• #163372
I bet it’s not

There was an ad for The S*n too. Shitrag.

• #163374
The ads are a bit more interesting than this so far.

Like the iplayer option of having radio coms with pic from bbc linked up.
