You have to admire some of the engineering that must have gone into protecting the driver/passenger in that car. The rest of the car is smashed to fuck but the 'cab' looks pretty good.
I guess it is essential in a car that will be driven by cunts.

"It is understood that a delivery driver was at the wheel of the Ferrari when the crash happened."

Presumably a considerable portion of their business is selling replacement cars to people that have binned them.

re-post from the commute thread with a few more photos.
looks like it's gone up from the inside as the front / rear ends were relatively undamaged.
the doors were pretty much completely melted away, no roof left etc.
it looks like the fire crew had to crowbar the back of the adjacent van door open, presumably to check nobody was inside?

I did fire marshal training recently at work and the person taking the course was a fireman to who does training in his spare time. He said these electric car fires are a nightmare because of the lithium. According to him in Germany they have fire trucks with a crane and a swimming pool on the back and they just plonk them in the pool when they go pop.

• #372
Lithium fires produce their own oxygen which is why they're so difficult to extinguish.

or that, yeah.
i wonder why the van wasn't dragged out of the way? -

I always fill the kitchen sink with water in case my chip pan catches fire.
