I had a week off work just to wind down my holidays as other half gets less days than me, so I'm going absolute kickball cold turkey today.

Peter Walton is stealing a living as a pundit.

Have no love for Portugal but don’t see the fuss about that penalty. VAR right to award it.

McCoist talking out of his sizable arse as usual, another crap pundit living in the past who doesn't know the rules
-
• #163183
Yup. Stopped it going through with his hand. Easy decision.

It is an offence if a player:Â
deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised.
I guess it depends if you think you can fall over but keep your hands by your sides. The rules are hugely subjective which is, part of the reason, why VAR is bollocks.

I just don't get the rabid fanaticism that is rampant within football. The financial entity club I vaguely follow is purely because it was the nearest one to where I grew up. If they were bought by the Saudi's or similar I'd have no problem stopping following them, binning the few shirts/shorts I have, and explaining to people why I've done it.
It's not just the fanaticism (admittedly there is a lot of that, often fairly unpleasant) but for a lot of places the town's identity is intrinsically tied in with the football team. It's probably not the same with Fulham but for somewhere like Burnley the only time they tend to get mentioned is the football club or a depressing cost of living story.
Stopping watching is a huge upheaval for many. There are friends who I probably see about a dozen times a year that I'd end up seeing once every couple of years without football. For home matches three generations of my family meet up, I don't think that would happen without the added impetus of football.

Yep, they’re good too.
Even down to the “rock, paper, scissors, shoot!” Which is what my kids do when playing it. -
• #163191
It was to their standard.
The standard they set.
That's a fair point, but every team who was going to wear the armband hasn't. FIFA are the pricks here.

Anyone who watched the game: were we any better for having Henderson in the midfield?
