Pathetic isn't it. I think entire teams should wear the armband and all get sent off/booked/whatever instantly. THAT would be a message.

A brief look anywhere online will show how many people are against any of them wearing the arm band. It’s really quite depressing. I imagine they can only uphold one of two images. Wear the bands, get into some kind of trouble, please those who agree and annoy the fans who think ‘football shouldn’t be about politics’ or the opposite which is what they’ve gone for.

This is what I think should go down. England crash out of the World Cup but at least they’ve stood for something.

Like it or not, you'd think the vast majority of people are watching it for the sport and not the statements of solidarity

You can and many feel that the human rights situation is abhorrent and disgraceful and should be mentioned every minute but also realise it is the pinnacle of the footballing world and still enjoy the football side.

Very fucked up to be put in this situation.

Yeah it's a tricky one,

On one hand, don't hold the World Cup in Qatar because of human rights and shit LGBTQ beliefs and avoid so much hassle

Or, do hold the World Cup in Qatar and try and use it as a means to highlight issues, change beliefs and bring people together (and make a shit load of cash in bungs)

I do think the World Cup should be held in as many countries as possible, plays into the idea of a Carnival that pops up in a random location every 4 years and draws people from all over the world to it

we've done one, but with money going to an as-yet undecided human rights charity.
