  • Usually says on your itinerary, no?

  • Checked the itinerary and can’t see it mentioned.

  • Collect at Boston and look for the signs. Normally you will need to go through customs before checking back in but there may be a check-in point airside. Always have to collect your luggage at the point of entry to the US

  • Do I have to collect my luggage and re-check it for the connecting flight?

Check-in will be able to confirm but I expect so. You have to clear immigration and customs at your first stop in the US. Your internal flight will land at a gate without passport control or customs between it and landside.

  • What are these kind of cable stoppers called (I want this exact kind, with four holes / the bottom cord may be fixed (only the top one actually adjustable) but need two "rings" of cord total not just one) ?

  • Anyone here use Lime bikes and can explain how Lime Prime works?

Do you get unlimited 30 minutes free and free unlocks (in which case £8.99 a month seems a good deal) or is it just free unlocks and you can reserve 30 minutes in advance or something else? Nowhere seems that clear

  • Sure it must be the latter. The former would be too good value...

  • That's what I'm thinking. I signed up for the trial but that is still very unclear

  • I think that seems reasonably clear that it will be free to start but from thereon you'll be paying the usual per minute price? 30 minutes booking is helpful. I use the Lime passes when I know I'm gonna want to do lots of pootling about town on them and that's really useful - you can pop into a shop/pub etc and book your bike again the minute you end that ride, meaning it's still yours when you come out again....

  • Cheers, I haven't used it before so didn't realise that booking in advance was really a thing. Doesn't really make it any cheaper than the tube in that case.

  • I’d say it’s a type of cordlock but haven’t seen that specific style.

  • Nope, it's very unlikely to be cheaper than the tube in any scenario, but the lime passes are the way to get better value if you plan to ride a lot in whatever time frame they're currently offering their deals for...

  • Bit tricky to follow, but did you want to cutup old leathers, or use new hides?
Light-ish weight new leather will be fine, although the sticky loading board might not remain effective for that long with the textured underside (boards are relatively cheap though). You can use specific heavyweight blades for thicker materials, or theres a rotary cutter wheel for textiles; the pathway is redefined for the rotary blade, think 'ice-skate lines' which might limit some designs.

If you use Adobe or similar, I found the Silhouette interface relatively straight-forward, and once you have the hang, it's a doddle. You can buy a plugin, Silhouette Connect, for something like $50 (3 licenses) to connect adobe directly and save some of the faff of saving as dxf and resizing in Silhouette Studio.

I've found a large part of the learning, has been working out 1) blade depth 2) pressure 3) time. The interface gives pre-loaded settings for materials, but you need to trial and tweak to find best settings.

I guess you're doing designs/lettering to then apply to a base? A handy technique might be to apply bondaweb/hot-melt film to the underside of the leather before cutting, then press on with an iron/heatpress before stitching on.

....good luck + let us know how you get on!

  • Any recommendations on the best model and best place to pick up durable USB C cables other than Amazon? Primarily for charging phones although would be nice to have option of data transfer as well

  • Anker's my go to for decent USB stuff. You can get it direct...

  • Lindy, Anker, Ugreen & SyncWire for me. All available via their own stores too.

  • Lindy, Anker

I've been happy with these two, and haven't tried the others.

  • Odd request. Can anyone find a version of Dead Flag Blues by Godspeed You! Black Emperor that doesn't have the vocals/ narration over the start of it?

  • Why does my Safari browser not load some images on websites?
It happens only on some sites, since yesterday the LFGSS logo doesn't show as well (worked fine until now).
It's Safari 15.6.1 with Adblock Plus installed but turned off if that helps..

  • What's the bit in 28 days later?

  • That's East Hastings isn't it?

  • Oil-filled radiators, I've seen the name glycol floating around. Is that what they're all filled with (when they're not filled with water)? If so, where do I buy it? Got some radiators that seemed to have suffered some leakage in transit and want to fill them up.

  • Oil-filled radiators, I've seen the name glycol floating around. Is that what they're all filled with

If they're oil filled, it's not glycol since that's not an oil. There's stuff called diathermic oil, but it's hard to find in small quantities. Domestic units are not generally designed to be refillable, because if you lose oil you have a leak and you won't be able to repair that safely. Also, as a safety precaution, letting normals refill them will result in explosions because people will over fill them and the pressure from thermal expansion will pop the seams.

  • Appreciate the info. Not sure if this changes much around the not designed to be refillable point, but it's something along these lines (can't find the exact model, but this looks very similar), with a removable heating element: https://ecostrad.com/ecostrad-ascoli-iq/

Already opened the pair up, as one's heating element decided to stop working and the other was much hotter at the bottom than top (it was only half-filled), so took some oil from the dodgy element one and topped up (not literally) the other. So now in the market for a new element + some oil. Can find plenty of standalone elements to buy, but no mention of the oil.

  • The instructions say:
