  • nice one!

Hope you enjoy it, should be a fun one!

  • What an odd feeling, sitting in front of people playing live music.

Yesterday evening was amazing, I’m coming back for more today and tomorrow :)

  • Now on Baroquestock's youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qONARe5GyRQ

  • Last Saturday we saw the Valkyries at the Coliseum (mainly cos daughter works there) and I actually shed a tear or two at the end, even though they weren’t allowed to set fire to the stage as they had done in rehearsals. Amazing stuff.

  • Theodora at the ROH is fantastic.

3h55m and I was rapt for the entire time.

Only the second time performed since 1700s!

  • Oooh, thanks for the recommendation.

I'd forgotten about Opera on 3. With BBC Sounds having finally come to Sonos, it all gets a bit better.

  • Car Man at RAH: not what I expected but what a show. No singing, only dance. The ballerinas and ballerinos are amazing athletes, and the musical adaptation is my favourite rendition of Carmen so far.

  • I saw Car Man at Sadlers Wells must have been over 10 years ago, it was superb..

  • Went to see La Bohème last night at the ROH..

Christmas came early for sure.. wonderful stage designs and lighting, wintry throughout, Dickensian like scenes particularly around the shopping arcades with an ensemble of voices and joyful restaurant scene with Musette Waltz.

A great evening of entertainment with a certain fella from forum past. The night ended back at the Coach & Harses for two more jars of vitamin G before the tube / trains stop running. Your man was in top form

  • Salud/Slainthe!

  • Ha, there was plenty of that too. We should definitely organise another outing..

  • R3 currently playing Gloriana. Thoroughly enjoying this (wife actually turned it up).

  • I've got two tickets for Akhnaten at the ENO this Wednesday that I can't use.

    Anyone interested?

  • Yes, but already have tickets. Sorry. Saw it last time around, liked it so much I am going again. The trouser incident is a highlight.

  • It’s good. Hope you found a taker for your tickets.

  • Innocence by Saariaho at the ROH tonight was brilliant. 1h45 of sustained tension and restrained music, with an astonishing set. Anyone else see it?

  • Going to see Welsh National Opera (!) rendering The Magic Flute, Y Ffliwt Hud if you will in that bastion of culture, Milton Keynes tonight. Be great if they sing it in Welsh!

  • So, ENO is off to Manchester

  • Part of the Tories' defunding of the arts agenda?

  • Levelling down or something, or removing a competitor to the ROH

  • ENO aren't really a competitor to the ROH. ROH are one of the top 5 opera houses in the world.

ENO offer something different, and London is easily big enough for two opera houses.

  • You may be right, but if I were offered a choice between a show at ENO and one at ROH, I would weigh them up by a number of factors and not just the knowledge that ROH tends to be a bit more of a class act

  • Which proves my point about there being enough audience for two opera companies in London
