Machining the spider to rotate it by 36° on a Sram crank. Imminent fiery death surely?
Not sure why you'd want to, but if you think the splines are what's actually transmitting torque*, then you'd be using 7 instead of 10. Fiery death doesn't seem all that imminent.

I was concerned about the lack of real estate left after counterboring the holes.
I'd like to do away with the hidden fifth bolt on a force crankset.
I've found an auction on a s950 spider after all so probably won't have to resort to the bodge.
