  • Scroll back about 5 pages for my take on the Mykle and the Radwagon. Bascially as @MCamb says, change the brakes for ones that work and don't look back, just consider it part of the purchase cost. Most cheap/unbranded mechanical disc brakes are best in the scrap metal bin and not on a bike, there are good ones though, but when the basic Shimano ones are only about £30-40, and £50-60 for the Tektro ones with the right connection for the motor cut off switchs, its a no brainer.

  • Lost the front wheel on the Bullitt this afternoon bringing daughter home. Leaf skog on a cul de sac that had been flooded, and grabbed the front brake when a small boy cut across on his bike.

Managed to avoid falling but was very close. Was my first dodgy moment. Will use more back brake in future!

  • I'm pretty sure the brakes are Tektro on the Mycle cargo bike.

  • Thanks for that advice. I should do the upgrades as will hang onto the bike because it is still really useful to have for doing shortish journeys that I probably would have taken the car for previously. Problem is I am becoming a bit more lazy as I find myself doing enough pedalling to get the motor to kick in without having to use any force. Need to ride my gravel bike a bit more for commuting as before.

  • Built one of these up last week. Really fun ride.

  • That looks cool, I have a charge steamer that I use as a mini long tail. It’s ugly but pretty awesome for carrying people around on :~>

Wish I had a bosch mid drive on it 🥲

  • Urban Arrows are next level in the EU

  • Seems overkill. When I die just wrap me in a rug and ratchet strap me to the front of an Omnium.

I've seen a few of those UA tenders around town, I always wonder what they're transporting and how they are to ride.

  • I’ve ridden one once, they are utter tanks. Was in Amsterdam with 5 people hanging out in the front of it.

  • Not urgent, but if anyone is aware of a used R&M load 60 or 75 or Bullitt (any flavour) I'm interested

  • I guess the use case is just for lugging stuff that's too heavy for a two wheeler? Any idea what the advantage of that form factor is over a regular trike with 2 wheels at the back like an Iceni?

  • Yeah guess if it’s too heavy and has loads more space too.

Maybe it’s for people who like to have the load in front. To me felt nicer / more fun to ride than a huge rickshaw type cargo anyway

  • Checks out. It always feels slightly sketchy riding a rickshaw style trike in traffic as well, it's weird cycling with a blind spot.

  • they use one here in Leicester to re-stock the hire bikes

  • Interesting! Any idea if 4 bikes is the maximum capacity? I use a standard UA to transport bikes for a living. We can fit 5 on with the front wheels removed. Those are standard city bikes rather than heavy hire e-bikes though.

  • Hydraulic though, not the cheapest in the range of tektro mechanical, quite a big difference in performance.

  • no idea tbh.
looks like they could maybe fit more on though.
I know the guy who rides this so I'll ask him next time I see him

  • That'd be great if you don't mind! Really interesting stuff.

  • I've had a few sketchy moments. I'm mostly carrying decorating stuff & paint, never had "valuable" cargo tho!
First time I went over was just taking a corner too fast in the wet
Second time, also on a corner. The ladder I had on top of the cargo box must have shifted a bit & stopped me from turning handlebars (won't make that mistake again)
Scariest moment was the bike sliding out from under me as I took a busy roundabout slowly. There was a thin mud slurry from a building site nearby that was like ice.

  • One of the worst feelings ever is finding you’re not able to turn when you need to :-s
