Lots of this going on in Bristol, people moving close to well established venues and trying to shut them down.
Gardna wrote a great track on the subject

At the same time, it's not really viable to keep residential areas proximate to city centres as uninhabited wastelands (per the Graun article) because the venue got there first.

It's the northern quarter, it's all bloody bars round there and has been for years, they were the main thing that drove any interest in the area, sparked by night and day, and what was dry bar nextdoor, yes there's more people living there now too but if you choose to live there you should really know what you're getting in for and deal with it or move rather than ruin a staple of the cities night life. It's a bit unfortunate the miserable neighbor moved in during lockdown into a place that hadn't been soundproofed properly, and that should be rectified, but it should have fuck all to do with the local venues.

Are you just arguing for the sake of it now?

Are you?
EDIT: I think the answer to your question is no. I don't say stuff in bad faith for the sake of it.

Where on earth is that where Aubergine is a popular snack.

In our Sainsbury's it's just about the only thing we regularly buy that doesn't have a sticker on (so has to be selected manually).

Creme egg and poppies on the same page? What is the world coming to where both are available at the same time?

I love how the text makes you instantly wonder what exact swearwords the model is shouting out as she clenches the banister in rage.

Lots of news around missiles in Korea, NK threating some nasty stuff.
Are we going to need a NK invade SK thread soon? Would we get pulled into it being friends with USA?

His sourcing and simplifcation can be problematic but worth a look for another view (it could also be rubbish).
TL;DR it's posturing for the US and western news (who lap it up), SK people not remotely bothered and it barely makes their news. -

This was a very sad story. The tone of the article is weird in how much it blames the child for "cycling into" the HGV. Usually expect better from the Graun.

That report doesn’t include that the child hit the wheels of the trailer rather than was hit by the cab, so it seems she did collide with the lorry rather than was hit by it. Very sad.
Collision investigator PC Steve Fair reported that the bicycle travelling down the hill towards the junction of Church Street failed to stop at the end of the lane and went into the A338 colliding with the first or second nearside tyre of the trailer of the lorry.

It does I think...second paragraph.
Sounds like the poor girl had just learned to ride a bike and lost control before going into the road and colliding with the side a passing lorry that was doing about 12mph. What a horrendous freak accident.

Was listening to a piece on the Today programme this morning about this. It's almost as if people don't understand we live in a class based system by design....
Tragic.
