Are you able to share who the rogues are so I can make sure to avoid?
-
• #4780
Of course. SCC and interior solutions limited. Avoid like the plague

If you weren't aware they are well overdue with their accounts and an application has been made to strike the company off on that basis (by 4 December). May mean nothing but if you are hoping to get some money from them I would try sooner rather than later.

I have a cabinet where the structure has been damaged so I was looking for an internal reinforcement. I think I have seen them before, a block of plastic and four screws go through to brace against the side and rear of the cabinet. However my Google-Fu is letting me down. Can anyone identify what I mean?

Fixit blocks seems to be the term -

That’s the puppy, thanks bud

Thanks. I’ve written a 3 page letter yesterday with a slide dec of all the pics that have been littering this thread over the last 7 weeks.
It’s not a letter of claim as such but it does ask for 20% of the bill back and say I’m not paying the last 10%.If they don’t reply to that or do that (which they won’t) not sure what my next move is

• #4786
They will just fold and start again, these companies have absolutely no morals and there isn't enough to just make sure they dont start again and re do it. Its insane
-
• #4787
Small claim and a CCJ ?
-
• #4788
I think you can lodge a claim that stops them being able to fold.
But you will spend some money, a lot of time and stress and they'll probably get away with it anyway. If you have a strong constitution go for it - otherwise leave them bad google reviews and try to move on with your life

Has anyone got or looked into Infrared heating panels?

Can't decide on what 13amp wall sockets to buy but need to have something in the next few days for a new partition wall. Am i right in thinking as long as i install the correct depth back box then most aftermarket sockets will work or do screwless facias require matching back boxes? TBH not opposed to visible screwfixing but would like something reasonably priced, good quality, preferably metal, curved edges and slightly raised.
Recommendations would be appreciated, struggling with all the rose gold, non-branded, expensive tat the ID shops stock.

I don't know generally but my screwless ones just use a standard back box. The main part of the socket attaches as normal and then a thin faceplate just clips over it.
Edit: I have these which might actually meet your criteria

Thanks. Yes they're not far off what i'm after, would quite like painted white if possible but brushed doesn't look bad. How's the quality (snug fit to wall etc)? Do you know the brand?
-
• #4793
I have been told:
- not to ever get LAP (which I think is screwfix own brand).
- the screwless ones are much harder to fit and make look good - harder to get straight, harder to get flush (can attest this is the case and caused a lot of arguments).
- slim depth back boxes are also harder.
Next time I do this I will find a more expensive / better quality branded version with screws showing.
Visible screws is less visually problematic to me than wonky / misaligned sockets

We’ve got these, with some USB sockets for key areas
They’re plastic-faced but not plasticy looking, very slim profile and as mentioned above the faceplate clips on to what’s behind. Personally, I’ve found 1-2 sockets tend to part pull away from the hidden fixing panel when removing plugs, and I think if/when we do it again I’d try to find a white finish metal face plate with 2 minimal screws to best avoid the above and give an even slimmer buildup from the wall finish.
We’ve got matching switches as well using Varilight’s PowerGrid faceplates – was a minefield trying to figure all of that out!

• #4795
Can you bend the hidden clips on the offending sockets so they are tighter stuck to the wall?
-
• #4797
I have never got thread > fancy metal sockets that you either never see because they’re behind stuff, have stuff plugged in to so unless you also put fancy matching metal plugs on your stuff will always look more like the plug than the socket, and stick out a mile visually against a light wall.
A pretty light switch I’m fully behind (not brushed stainless because brushed stainless is horrible and prickly to touch), but sockets can never be beautiful, they need hiding not attention drawing to them.

Yeah i think this is where i have got to, i tried a varilight light switch and it really doesn't pull in nicely. Leaning towards something like this and i'll use some matt black screws
