Nice man. Very good car you had there.
I had a Mk1 Eunos G ltd, pictured with my Elgrand, then an Eunos 1.6s that I recently sold, photo is it on collection day. I have now got a very rusty Eunos 1.8s that's getting a Paco lift kit

Better call my dad and let him know I finally made it

Nice man speedhunters featured, definitely famous now. Yours the MX5? Is that at Dubclub?
-
• #72806
Yeah my MX5 and yeah it's Dubclub in Cov.

Nice I keep meaning to go there as it looks good and I'm not too far away. Is it worth the visit?

Love how quickly this has escalated

It's nice to visit, usually a good selection of cars, but I only go when I'm meeting friends as it's a 5 hour round trip from Dalston to Cov for me and I'm not really a car show attender.
I think that was the last one of the year so you'll have to wait until next year now if you want to go.

In theory it’ll lift 3.7 tonnes: https://liftech.uk.com/collections/4-post-lifts/products/4-post-lift-four-vehicle-car-ramp-hoist-parking-storage-with-mobile-kit-3-7t
But I’ve jumped the gun. Because of the steel beam on the right I’ve only got 4.4m length to get it full height and it looks like they’re 4.7m+.
The front would have to poke out, so you’d only get it a meter or so off the ground. Sorry for getting you excited!

Surely some space underneath is better than no space at all?

In Oman. Saw this beautifully restored beast on the way to dinner. Absolutely stunning example.

I love Oman. It's the antidote to the madness of Dubai

Speaking of antidotes - at the start of next year I'll either a) leave London b) buy a 205 gti

1.6 FTW. Lighter, revvier, shorter gearing, sweeter ride and steering. Better out of London though. Can you do both?

My dad had a 1.9 with a 1.6 gearbox back in the day, the acceleration was great.
Is it the extra weight of the 1.9 that has an effect on the steering? I'd be happy with either. Non-sunroof will be the priority.
Probably can't do both financially, not next year at least.

whenever anybody mentions 205 gti's I remember this I owned....the suspension was track focused and my girlfriend at the time complained it made her t*t's hurt over the bumps...

Smaller wheels and taller tyres. It’s only a 25kg difference I think so not really a thing, it’s all just standard defensive chat we 1.6 owners have ready to go when someone goes on about the 1.9 being better. :)
You’re right - just get a good one and forget the engine, 99% are horrific.
Be prepared to let go of your non-sunroof ideal or be prepared to be two of; very patient, very lucky, very rich.

Mi16 on carbs! I’d take hurty boobies for a go in that.

205 Gtis were such fun. I had 2 x 1.6's. One white, one super dark green special edition.

Another member of the ex-205GTi club here. Graphite grey, blacked out decals and trim strip, 15" wheels, Koni shocks, 1.9GTi front hubs and uprights and Wilwood 4 pot brakes up front. I really shouldn't have sold it, but I didn't have space to store it then.

Yeah I figured I might have to learn to love the sunroof.
The ideal situation would be to pick one up that has an Mi16 fitted - hopefully saving some cash in the process since it doesn't have the original engine.

• #72823
Do you have space now? You’d be welcome to store mine while I finish that poxy Fury. :)
-
• #72824
Yes. Do that. Makes no sense to convert an original nowadays.

At the same time, I also owned a 1 owner 45k miles 1.6 gti which was completely standard. Drove it for a year and left in at my parents' house and sold it a couple of years later for £500!
What model MX5 did you have?
