It's so fucking good.

picked up rimworld after participating (in name) in a discord event where one person fed us all into his game and shared our activities to much hilarity.

totally overwhelming to start. but found the wiki site which outlines lots of things you need to do.

last night my colony was going really well, took in a band of stragglers who got everything looking spotless and filled my warehouse with wood and steel as cutters and haulers for a week at the cost of a massive increase to my food expenditure, then out of nowhere they betrayed us (like they'd planned all along!), but not before I locked them in their barracks and put everyone with weapons outside the door. they lost their shit and smashed the place up and one plucky ne'er do well broke through a wall and just made it off the map before i could stab him. this meant we had a bunch of new mess, not much food and a couple of injured colonists so I tended the sick, buried the dead but had no one to clean up, which is when the self-tamed lynx decided to un-self tame itself but stay in my camp chilling. I manage to get back on an even keel but about a week later having just locked up one of my colonists for burning down half our crops because she's a pyromaniac the lynx decides to start hunting 2 of our colonists, the ensuing fight is pretty brutal, our medic gets injured and ends up on the verge of a breakdown, another colonist (the one who tends our crops AND cooks) quickly dies from bloodloss. then driven mad by grief, her dog turns into a manhunter and eats our prisoner then attacks our non-violent colonist who dies after I kite him around trying to pick off the dog with an injured doctor and his wife who both have a shooting skill of 1, so he of course dies, but so does the dog, while this is happening another prisoner we were looking after for a quest gets picked up and we get a new colonist join as the reward... except his doesn't like to do ANYTHING and was close to a major break within days due to how fucked up things were. and now I'll be starting over...

I have too much stuff I want to get done IRL so picking this up was a bad move.

That sounds fun.

i'm playing on the relatively safe mode that doesnt try to fuck you up all the time and lets you play house a lot more.

once I have the early game stuff straightened out i'm looking forward to letting the storytelling AI run amok as the real fun seems to be the bits that you don't want to happen, rather than just peacefully making your stardew valley settlement.

Rimworld and Mount + blade 2 are two games I'm completely obsessed with at the moment - games with emergent storytelling are just so much more fun!

I downloaded Total War Warhammer 3 yesterday, did about 3 hours in to a campaign, game crashed and it hadn't done any auto saves. Cry.

Rimworld look amazing but I similarly don't really have time for it. I may have to try the new Dwarf fortress with the tutorial etc when it comes out, cause reading dwarf fortress stories online used to be a favourite pass time.

Jesus. A modern game without that kind of feature is completely wild to me.

I think it does have it because TW:W2 definitely does, it just must have not been working or turned or something.

I suspect Dwarf Fortress is more time-consuming than Rimworld, or at least there are more things that can go wrong simultaneously.

It'll be interesting to see if the Steam release gets external tools (ie, Dwarf Therapist) folded into the game. I'll definitely set aside some non-existent spare time to take a look when it comes out, anyway.

Cheap indie souls-like metroid game.

Nothing original though fighting and platforming elements are pretty slick.

Not sure what I was expecting, but new COD reached boring point after only a week. Tedious maps of which they're aren't many (the hydro one is good though), no zombies mode, only three coop levels that are pretty low quality. Poor gun levelling and attachments system etc.

Regretful purchase as last cod I enjoyed was the last Modern Warfare one.

I suppose you're just paying the premium so that you can rank up guns faster/before Warzone 2 drops, then at least you'll have everything unlocked for when the meta eventually becomes obvious. It's a hefty price to pay for that benefit though!

I'm enjoying it. Big updates are expected to sort the UI out. And apparently they're going to do maps like bitd and release a bunch that are paid for, at least that's the rumor atm.

I'm hoping for a more detailed 'baracks'/achievements section too

I have to disagree with the map comment. I've enjoyed a few different play styles on most maps. I think they're a bit bland visually but gameplay has been good so far.

That'd be a bit naff, charging for extra maps when it's a full price release. Imo anyway. They already rake it in from battlepasses and character skins.

What does bitd Stand for?

It was fun for a bit I will admit, but so few maps, and such little variety in the game.

On the other hand, I'm finding Plague Tales Requiem is excellent. Just a tight, story driven singleplayer with no open world busywork, no microtransactions, skins etc.

I bought this game a few weeks ago and have been having a total mare with it.

I naively thought it would just play with what’s on the disc, but it took a couple of days to download masses of data and looka to have downloaded something totally different - Warzone. I’ve downloaded a ‘campaign pack’ for Modern Warfare, but that isn’t playing ball - keeps saying ‘Instal suspended’. Just deleted it and am in the process of trying again, so just posting on the off chance that this is a familiar situation to anyone.
