Update on my failed rear mech - got in touch with Pawel via facebook. Sent the mech to him Thursday. He sent me this on Saturday:
loose bolts, very common issue. I have used plenty of locktite, they won't be moving again. I have also sorted out scratch on the body, cleaned everything and lubricated all springs.
I have regreased orings in the servo, this should keep water for longer. Derailleur should serve your well for years to come.He sent comprehensive photos too.
All for £60 (including postage back), which is pretty amazing. Plus I get a lot of satisfaction out for stuff being repaired rather than being thrown out.

Does somebody do the same sort of thing for eTap? I have a Red 11sp with a stuck pivot that I have not tackled yet.

Hi I'm happy to look at look at it. I'll be honest I haven't taken any eTap apart, except shifters.
if that's something you'd like to explore, give me a shout. BTW I'm the guy who repairs Di2, Decided to come up with a cheesy nickname ;-) -

I like the port in the end of the aerobars. One of the reasons I never moved to that design was the pain of charging on the move with the Junc A way over on your drops. Assuming you've got aerobars on your audax/ultra bike though, that could be a neat option.

I've got some dead Di2 rear deraillers. Maybe I could send them to you?
I doubt they can be fixed but even if they can be I don't want them but maybe you could help sort someone else's stuff out with any of the parts?
Are you related to Kasia btw? :D
Witamy na forum!

wow that is so cool!

I wish :-) We only share the same surname.
I'd be happy to cover the postage. Many parts across 6870/9070/R8050/R9150 are the same so could be used as donors.
I'll PM you -

:)
Sounds like a plan.

That's extremely satisfying and very cool - plus I do like the way that he de-fucked it aesthetically also. Stop leaning your bike on the mech!

That scrape was from sliding along the road at high speed. Luckily my skin absorbed much of the abrasion...
Second time I rode the bike since having it repainted/putting fancy groupset on as well. At least got me over fear of scratching it. -

So good to see Di2 repaired instead of discarded!

Based on my experience there are 3 types of failures for rear Di2 derailleurs:
- Clicking/grinding noise - caused by loose bolts inside the servo. This can be fixed 99.9%
- Grinding Noise - possibly caused by a knock or fall. This may resulted in striping teeth on the worm-screw attached the to motor. replacement motor required. Could be repaired but spare parts are required.
- No response to shifting, or several clicks required. This is likely water damage- you have 50/50 chance of repair depending on the water damage. PCB is small SMD components even smaller and with no description, so difficult to source replacement.
- Shifting out of sync (under or over shifting) - caused by a knock, water damage or devil himself. Usually, can be repaired, as there is position sensor (rotation counter) which tells derailleur which gear is selected.
I haven't had the opportunity to repair front derailleur, apart one case of rusty linkage - that was purely mechanical.
I also repair Di2 hydraulic shifters.
Any questions please give me a shout.
P.S. If I can't fix it your item, it won't cost you a penny ;-)

That’s super handy!
But I’m fairly certain you can only adjust the front derailleur when shifted to big-big, at least on the mech combos I have.

Sort of... I'll probably change the text, but yeah.. it depends on the model.
6870 / 9070 have an electronic top limit as well as 2 bolts, and you shift to big-big to adjust that, yes.
Newer derailleurs don't have a low limit bolt, and that limit is set electronically by shifting to small-big.... and these also have the big-big electric limit.
(12sp ultegra/da FDs don't have limit bolts at all)Derailleur adjustment is so 'complex' that I decided to put the actual how-to on pages, and only show how to get into adjustment mode on the 'cheat sheet' - hence the QR code/link.
There's probably room to talk about the different modes in the A3-sized version of the cheat sheet though!

I don't suppose anyone fancies swapping my Dura Ace 9170 Di2 Hydraulic Groupset for an equivalent Sram AXS one do they?
Possibly an unpopular opinion on here but I prefer Sram

I'll swap you a 6700 front derailler that I've grinded down to function only as a chain guide for the TT bike?
-
• #5448
Then ebay the SRAM and put Di2 on the MTB :)
-
• #5449
this is fully brilliant. very, very into people repairing rather than replacing

Cheat Sheets are done! Finally, hah!
There's a page on them here, but you can also use this link to the main zip file (with all 3 cheat sheets).
https://assets.bettershifting.com/cheat-sheets/all-di2-cheat-sheets.zip
Feel free to edit them and move things around, and put your own logo at the top right if you feel like it. The only thing I ask is that you leave the QR codes / site links intact :)
Thanks guys!
Yeah... there's "a bit" of work involved every evening, once the kids go to bed ;-)
Currently working on this "Cheat Sheet".
The 10/11-sp version is sort of done... I'll make the 12-speed version, then double check the 11-speed one... and then make them pretty.
And make all the relevant links/pages on the site.
And fix the QR codes.
And also make an A3 version.
And a greyscale version.... ;-)
