In other news, Anne Sacoolas has admitted doing what we all knew she'd done and as a result I guess she admits fleeing the country to avoid justice as well.

Let’s hope the sentence doesn’t diminish the incredible efforts the family have gone to.
ETA though it looks like the family are being much more gracious than me and are just happy she’s admitted it.

Mordaunt.
Rumour has it she once walked past a trans person without spitting on them, so unqualified to be Tory leader.

I want more detail on exactly who is "talentless", according to normal Tory backbenchers. Do they include Rees-Mogg, Dorries, Coffey, Shapps and all the other people who've been in the cabinet under Johnson and Truss? Is there a list?
-
• #78763
All of them; every single one since call me Dave.
-
• #78764
Well yes, but what we think is irrelevant. What I'm interested in is what the centre-ish vaguely competent Tory backbenchers think. Now that Brexit is demonstrably a failure, maybe the not-lunatic wing of the parliamentary party will have more muscle.

That would largely be the One Nation lot? Didn't Johnson cull half of them shortly before the 2019 election. I think there's probably only 30 of them left? They're completely outnumbered by the headbangers now.
-

Indeed. They ought to be trying to stage a comeback if the party is to survive. I'd like to see some open warfare. If they were Labour the fighting would be in public and they'd be beseeching Dominic Grieve to return and trying to fix a by-election so he could be parachuted in. Charles Walker wouldn't be the only voice. His "talentless" speech was for me one of the most historic moments in British politics.

The Parliamentary Tory party is no longer reliant upon the fund raising from constituency parties.
The Parliamentary Tory party can fund raise from dubious sources, for £100k for a tennis match with so&so, or £xok for a meal with so&so.
Profits from the local Conservative association from the bar and £25 a head dinner/dance events are irrelevant these days.
The local Conservative associations have been infiltrated by the various shades of Kipper tendency, which is why ever more unlikely candidates are selected in safe Tory seats, (see Truss, Raab, Kwarteng, Badenoch, Braverman, and other Britannia Unchained authors for more detail).
Dominic Grieve won't be re-selected for Beaconsfield. -

The DUP: blocks NI government because they refuse to sit
Also the DUP: it would take a miracle to have a government before the deadline =imposed on us by the timewasting tories who refused to sit with the EU since May this year= well, you know what to do...make that miracle happen... :p -

parliamentary parties don't fund raise or spend money
