Should Scotland be an independent country?

  • Lols at buying votes….

Winning votes by having policies people like and then mostly enacting them isn’t ‘buying’ votes.

You get that after independence you’ll be able to vote for any party that floats your boat rather than the SNP? They are popular at the moment because they are the only real option. (The Greens too these days).

What did the SNP do to hurt you bro?

  • Why doesn’t Englandshire want its own independence?

  • I've wondered this before.

  • What was Brexit if not an English vote for "independence"? Brussels is to England as Westminster is to Scotland.

  • Because it still thinks it's an empire.

  • That's the standard answer from anyone in the SNP mindset, you can vote for who you want.

Voting is pointless up here, the SNP get in every time no matter what they do. Glasgows a state and they have been in power there for years. There is too many snouts in the troughs in Edinburgh and in WM. How can the SNP run a country when they cant even manage to build some ferry's for the island at a cost of hundreds of millions over, come on.

The simple answer is that's imo is that independence at all costs for the SNP is the only answer, if there was real accountability and actual solid answers Id go for it but its a legacy NS is looking for good or bad and if its bad she'll swanny off into the darkness.

  • re boat building scandal- you probably know but there was an article in the lrb about this. perhaps it would be interesting for some here

  • Why would you invite English opinions about the subject? There are lots of them to be had but it's a decision for the Scottish.

Why there's still even a question of the likely outcome being a shitshow run by clowns is beyond me.

As @NickCJ has already mentioned, it looks very much like Brexit. At least from down here in the south of the UK. As I've said in this thread years ago, there are plenty of people in England who hate Westminster and don't feel represented, that's not something the Scots have a monopoly in.

  • I actually seen it on twitter of all places, but with everything SNP touched up here they will have a public enquiry and blame someone else, I mean derek mackays already got the blame for it tbf. It stinks from the top.

The ferry thing stinks of brown envelopes right left and centre and with Jim McColl anywhere near anything you knew he was gonna pull another fast one. I mean he turned on the SNP really quickly after his agenda had been filled.

  • McAlpine reckons the paper is 'pish'..
    https://robinmcalpine.org/this-paper-answers-nothing-this-government-has-no-answers/

I'm looking forward to the EU membership paper.. If the economic paper was 'pish' then the EU paper is almost guaranteed to be a Monday morning shite.

  • Ferries/ aircraft carriers. Poor example.

  • Unfortunately not, it’s a political football kicked about in Westminster, with the shit show we’re watching unfold I think the case for independence is growing, hopefully my re voters can be convinced there is a better alternative to the greed and chaos on show from the current holders of high office.

  • Like I've said before, lots of opinions are available.

  • Ha, come down to Slough. 950mil hole in the budget (having one of the largest business estates in the world within the town borders), found after someone checked the books properly. Few council members on board of private finance company subbing all the projects in town with God knows what interest rates for generations to pay off. They fuc...g bought a cinema in town miles away as an investment, ffs. Not a single head rolled, Labour will be forever in, no matter what. There is just no other option, just before elections they up their spending on stupid programmes that never get off the ground, just to bring some votes in. Digress a bit, but the connection is here - if SNP get their say, they'll also ensure the system is rigged for them to stay in power for years to come, no matter what...and if Englandshire gets its own independence down the line, we will be blue for years , Truss-me-not imbecil currently leading them or whichever cunts remains alive after we burn the parliament down.

  • Why doesn’t Englandshire want its own independence?

Because British = English that just happen to annex other non-English country

  • I mean the greed and chaos is there plain and simple, yellow/blue all the fuckin same.

There’s no convincing you the SNP are bad for Scotland and TBH now there is no convincing me that SNP an are good for Scotland. Snp are a one trick independence pony, if they had some idea and facts about stuff being a reality but it’s all maybes and we can do this with no solid confirmation.

Nicola Sturgeon and her side kick Swinney are about as trustful as any of they cunts in WM. They would lie to your face!

  • The systems rigged up and down the country, the problem is that folk go you can vote for who you want.

Im puffed out with indy 1, then brexit, then covid, then indy 2! We all need a break from this pish as nothing changes no matter who’s in imo

  • You blaming Ukraine?

  • Slough is irredeemably Labour because towns were allowed to become unitary authorities.
South Bucks couldn't wait to evict Labour Slough,
and now Buckinghamshire has gone unitary to leave just a Labour rump around High Wycombe, Downley and Buckingham West.
Slough Trading Estate has been privately owned for a century.

  • I imagine all of your responses in this thread to be in the voice of rab c. 😂

  • I do keep getting Tory Westminster governments that I have to put up with because our votes don't make any difference down there.

I would definitely take a break from the shit shows, I'm with you there.

  • Sturgeon's peg a bit shoogly after yesterday's car crash committee appearance. Where are the cabinet minutes? Does the Ministerial code even apply in Scotland?

  • The peg could be on its last piece and about to fall off and that lot will worm there way out it, It just makes a change for her answering questions where her team of folk haven't carefully gave her the answer for prior to the interview/questioning.

Its been brown envelopes all round with that fiasco but no one will carry the can for it and as usual she just says well investigate the finding etc etc etc.

  • Judgement day (hopefully in 13 minutes).

  • No surprise there
