  • t'other weekend. Best haul to date, dried bay bolete storage goals achieved.

Also came across a giant polypore yesterday and put it to work in a banging käsespätzle

  • Wow. That’s an amazing haul!

  • Boss level!

I found SO many Bay boletes this year but never picked this many in one go, you definitely win. :D

  • Most likely ID I think would be Neoboletus luridiformis, based on the absence of the the red layer between the tubes and the flesh of the cap that would indicate Suillellus luridis, but tough to say more without more detail of the stem and stem cross section. Nice shroom though.

  • Couldn't believe it, we were practically tripping over them. This was my favourite.

  • We went on Sunday, so many oak boletes, but they were old and sopping wet/maggoty. Managed enough hedgehogs and chanterelles for dinner though. Spied a few death caps and destroying angels too.

  • I left the fly agaric in the woods but came home with a kg of hedgehog mushrooms this morning. Never seen such a big fairy ring of agarics though. Love them.

  • You know the done thing is to take a few and leave the rest for others?

  • Believe me, there was no shortage

  • I left so many hedgehogs today, I could have picked another 5kg easy.. there's always more (unless commercial pickers have been through but they're cunts).

  • Wow @Cazakstan that's massive.

Found these on a stump in the garden. It's almost totally covered. No idea what they are, just thought it was interesting.

Seeing all the pictures makes me appreciate how many different types of shrooms there are in the UK. Totally insane number

  • Honey Fungus?

  • Good stuff!

  • Yup, probably. Looks same as on the RHS website

Having a flash back to last year. Landscaper is coming on Monday so will ask him about getting rid of the tree root.

Got another patch but these look different, more rounded

  • Mmmm, they look delicious!

  • Didn't know there was a thread for this. I'm popping my foraging cherry as I type. Got ourselves a cauliflower among the usual boletus. Fun times.

  • Hedgehog mushrooms are so good, found loads in Dalby Forest once. Not many round these parts.

Great oyster log found today, plus some clouded agarics

  • I'm not looking for beef, but what's your prep for eating cloudeds? They're quite frowned upon in edibility terms as far as I know?

  • As far as I can gather it's just another with varying edibility, and we're lucky. Probably would avoid eating them raw.
