The important bit is getting whatever you paint it with to stick. A decent primer that can cope with plastic would work. I would change it for a new one given that it's probably less bother to me to do that than try and paint it.
In fairness if you try and clean old emulsion off of one it's usually well stuck so maybe just emulsion would work, possibly rub it with some wire wool first to key the surface.

Just had the floor insulated, replaced, screed and ready for floor covering. Toilet had to be removed and replaced. Sort of thought they would have used a new pipe and not the old crappy one.... Going to be mostly hidden by the sink unit so will wire wool and paint it with whatever is to hand abd then forget about it.
The wide plastic pipe that takes waste from back of the loo out to the drain has gone from white colour to a yellow ish colour. Can I paint it with something to smarten it up?
