If you want to reduce costs with those numbers you need to find a venue that does mates rates - local sailing club, church hall, etc. or go abroad. The UK is beyond ridiculous.
Go abroad and watch your guest list plummet by at least 50%.

Salty AF all over the place - here and the house thread. Good reading though...

Don’t tell anyone (even your mum) and watch your guest list plummet to zero.
-
• #5058
Exactly. Just the people who love and value your commitment.
Plus 90ppl is a much better number as well as saving costs.

Trotts over to the house thread for some more spectator sport.

Also those without kids.

We had loads of kids.

I swear it was just as easy to fly to a resort in Spain with two small kids as it was to drive to Devon with them.

Better yet, don't get married and buy yourself something nice with the money saved

Feels.
We had 80 people at the Battersea Arts Centre (pre-fire). I've have yet to again feel the urge to buy dinner for extended family members that I don't really like.

Fair play, did you get hitched in the holidays? Probably more about the cost for us, tbh. If I'm schlepping the kids to spain I'd want a holiday. If it's in Devon I can do a night or two and come back.

Charge guests for food at the next one, and make a profit instead

But don’t tell them you’re making a markup. Amirite?!!??

Just rock up to some random woods/field, BYOT (Bring your own tent) and hey presto free wedding

Have a friend who invited i and my ex to their wedding.
They want it in New Zealand.
Only 15% went.

School friend did his in Sri Lanka a while back, hard to begrudge him it as it’s where his family are from. I was without wife/kids/mortgage back then so went out with another mate. There were probably 5-6 close friends that would otherwise have gone who couldn’t make it though, so the wedding itself was a bit shit from that perspective. Kind of blows my mind I ever had that much disposable income. Hard to beat New Zealand for distance/effort/money.
