Just had my trade in confirmed for the full amount (£200), phew

Well I thought the Google trade-in was too good to be true and it was.

They'll be returning it as it was incorrectly reported device model (which is bollocks, I checked the serial code) and screen has burn in bruising which I guess is possible but I didn't see at all and can't see on the video I took before sending it off.

At least they'll return it I guess but I wouldn't buy anything again on the strength of the trade-in value.

Well that sucks. I'm still sour about my trade in experience too. At least one of us (@M4xime) had some success.

Very much enjoying the switch to Android and the Pixel 6a though.

Having looked at it very closely I can take a guess at what they may have been referring to. It's a 7 year old phone though so I suspect that nothing would match their criteria unless it had never been used.

also, i've just had a look at the comparison between the pixel watch and the fitbit versa 3 (my current watch)

the pixel watch is visually better, but it seems like it lacks a lot of the health monitoring features, it's twice the price, and 1 day battery life?!
the fitbit typically lasts a whole week between charges!

Yes, I ran through the comparison and pretty much the only difference is the new tensor chip and I'm not sure what difference that makes in reality.

It looks a good bump from a 5 though, with ~£200 trade in and a free set of pixel pro buds. Bit disappointed by the watch, don't think the battery life is going to be particularly practical.

Went for the 7 Pro and the watch, only went for the watch as the wife liked the look of it. Have wanted another pixel since my pixel 3.

24hrs seems the standard for a full smart watch. Which is a bit rubbish for a device that's supposed to be your all day tech and then your Sleepytime monitoring system.

The inbuilt VPN on the pixel 7 could be useful though the fact not all data passes through it means you have to micromanage.

No phones seem to be major upgrades anymore, the iPhone seems the same as the previous one.

I'll be sitting out the 7 as my 6 works fine and #notaballer

Looking back at this thread I wouldn't bank on the trade-in value. Have a think about whether it is affordable with an ebay sales value and view the trade-in as a bonus.

are the higher end fitbit watches (sense/versa) not considered 'full' smartwatches?

my versa 3 has google assistant, does on wrist calls, texts, built in gps, spotify, NFC payments etc. plus more health tracking stuff than the pixel watch, but the battery also lasts 6 days.

what does a smart watch do that this one doesn't?

See also the newer Garmin Fenix and Epix. The smart features have got a lot better, as have the screens. I get a week between charges on my Epix 2. The touch screen and notification features are really usable now days.

In case anyone's interested CW are offering £150 on top of any trade-in when buying a Pixel 7 Pro. That means you can trade in any tat, get a guaranteed £150, and sell your phone privately. My mate just traded in a smashed Pixel 2 and got £152.

Also, CW don't offer finance/pay monthly on sim free phones so you have to pay the full amount up front, then you get the trade-in value + £150 in your account, then you claim your free pixel watch.

Is anyone interested in the Google Pixel watch? I have a black LTE version arriving today as part of the offer with the phone. I have no interest in keeping the watch so will sell it on. People are already sticking them up on FB marketplace and Ebay for £300, I'd be after a LFGSS friendly price of £250.

I struggle to see the additional capability or value of a smart watch that does <24hrs battery when Garmin and Fitbit devices are pushing a week.

Can someone explain why I would want one?
