Just been babysitting next door's 8th month old 'oodle thing. Very sweet but absolutely mental. Makes me realise how lucky we were with Crumpet always being extremely calm/lazy.

Bonus photo of Crumpet being extremely needy after I had the audacity to spend 2 nights away from home.

Anyone got a GPS tracker they can recommend for a dog?
-

I use a pawfit, GPS signal is pretty good, I like the app and it's a nice neat device. Their customer service is great too. Had a faulty device and as soon as I'd sent them proof of postage they sent a new one out and I got it the next day. If you decide to go for one of these I can send a discount friends referral thingy.

Thanks. I was doing some research and like others this is really GSM not GPS. I'm not sure why they all call then GPS. We don't get much phone signal here. It seems the Garmin, or just using one of my trackers might work best.

Anyone want a free doggy rucksack? This in Medium, it's slightly too small for our 7.5kg bundle of fur now.

Long-time reader but first time posting.
My partner and I are due to collect our first puppy (a flat-coated retriever) in early November and we’re beyond excited.
One thing I haven’t sorted is a chew resistant bed (or “pad”) for her crate - is there anything folk would recommend? Looking at reviews of “indestructible” beds, most seem to be made in the USA but sure that can’t be all that’s out there.
And of course pictures when pup arrives…

We just used blankets at first. No padding to rip out and easy to clean.

I've got a dog trace x20 its been brilliant gps collar for - 10 metre accuracy 12 mile range battery lasts for days. Same tech as garmin as far is i can see but almost half price. I think the company is Spanish. So probably even cheaper if your over there

Passed four years of having Bob in the family recently, and he's passed 4.5 years.
People still asking if he's a puppy (I presume cos he's small and looks fairly noble that people assume he's a puppy Retriever rather than a rescue cross of some description). Quite helpful if he's misbehaving tbf.

Seems to be about 400 EUR with the receiver, which i guess you need?
-

Yeah i paid £365 a couple of years ago and the cheapest Garmin was a couple of hundred more. I have the coller and hand held receiver. Battery life is great and no subscriptions to run via an app. Mine has been faultless in regular use.

Okay thanks. I might look for 2nd hand one. Really I need something he can wear most of the time as he's developed a habit of going for a walk himself. I let him out the house when I'm in the out building and he just trots about but last week went on a 3h expedition and the same a few weeks before. I don't really mind, just want to know where he is.
Does that handheld give you a location or just point you to their location? If you're busy just tell me to Google it!

Don't bother. As a retreiver they will destroy whatever 'chew-resistant' claims there are if they want to.
Focus instead on making it a happy place for the pup, and they'll be fine.
Highly rate this: https://www.petplanet.co.uk/p25900/vetbed_mat.aspxAlso if you want some puppy pads and bits and pieces just PM me and come pick them up.
Same goes for anyone else. We essentially had a ludicrously easy puppy time with Dora, so have used none of them.Best idiot ever (alongside our other best idiot ever, and the one before that, and the parents' one)

Handheld is arrow and direction but can get map location on the app to run along side it. I use the handheld mostly because having the live tracking running on the app drains my phone battery in 3-4 hours but the handheld lasts days

Dora looks great, it's utterly surprising that a lab has been (no doubt MAINLY) blameless. Then again, from the brief time I was in her glorious presence, she was an absolute charmer. Good to see her, and you, back on this sainted forum.
@tomatoe; nothing is retriever proof, (should they accept the challenge) items of pure mithril clad in enchanted chain mail are a mere passing chew toy. Flatcoats are great fun, budget for a a large unexpected furniture replacement moment, enjoy the bumpy ride!
