  • The carbon part of this seat post is 293mm. There’s no visible min. insertion line.

I know 100mm tends to be the minimum but the proprietary d-shape seat post on my tarmac has a 75mm insertion line on a 380mm post.

Anyone reckon 75mm on this cervelo post would be okay?
There’s 75mm in the frame right now and that gets me my ideal saddle height.
If it’s ok then it means I don’t actually need to find a longer post.

Edit - points to note: this is the frame I bought for cheap knowing that these frames had dodgy seat tube cracking issues. Turns out this frame does have a tiny crack at the seat clamp. I’m going to drill it like tester suggested a while ago.
I’m a reasonable big chap at 98kg and a baw hair under 6ft3.

Common sense tells me a new seat post is clearly what I need here. But would 75mm insertion reduce the chances of me seeing my next birthday?
Photo of tiny crack highlighted too

Current S3 only needs 65mm in the frame 🤷75mm in and 218mm out is within the 3:1 rule of thumb you use in the absence of better info, although the out dimension is more like 260 when you include the head. 75mm probably gets you below the bottom of the top tube, which is another gotcha with frames where the junction is not at the top of the seat tube
