Brompton owners

Finished up a spare parts bike for my dad today, retiring this year and mentioned he fancied one for potting around, and loves Chelsea hence the blue extremities!

Also gave this barely used rim a new life, now up for grabs if anyone needs a superlight front wheel!

Just purchased an H&H rack from AliExpress. Looks like I need 6mm wheels for it, are these really only available at twice the price of the 5mm version? Anyone got a spare pair of 6mm lying around?

@sbbohr (or anyone else), to save me measuring, do you happen to know what length of spokes are needed for putting an AS 2 hub into a Sun cr18 rim?

OE double wall rim is ERD 328mm and spokes are 151mm 2x
CR18 is ERD 340mm and 157mm 2x
Consider building it 2x drive and 0x non drive for insta fame tho? 157/148mm

I don't, I was going to order from SJS. Is it a cr18 you have? Silver? It's to match with a front which is a silver cr18.

Message me got at least 2 silver cr18s, I got a tonne of spokes too so might be able do a deal there too!

Anyone have initial thoughts on the new Swytch kit? Worth the investment?

Depends how bad you want to go electric. 21% Brompton tax compared to the universal kit; cheaper than an e brompton though. Also, cadence not torque sensing.

I'm 6 months in with my 3 spd brom - love it, no issues. Probs got about 1k miles on it. I should service it right ? What's the work list: @sbbohr ?

Also - nights are drawing in. I want that folded metal bracket and a cateye to fit - but the offical kit one seems wildly overpriced - can i buy the bracket separate ?

I have modded the existing front reflector bracket to take a light bracket a few times, no pictures, but you need to bend it flat and figure out a way to clamp the bracket on top.

Just buy some ordinary lights that mount elsewhere.

Unless you have ragged it, just got a full nut / bolt / fixture check, seatpost out and clean, check brake pads and chain wear, adjust gears and brakes

I've messed up my rear wheel, anyone in London able to build a new one using the original p line hub?

looks like a slightly different mudguard roller for the p-line - https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brompton-spares-accessories/brompton-p-line-advance-rear-mudguard-roller-wheel/ - has anyone tried it? does it roll any better than the stock (crap) one? is it a straight swap on an existing mudguard?

Yeah been meaning to buy a rack just cba to rewire the dynamo rear light 😒

Decided to finally sort out the Brompton I've not ridden for 5 years. Annoyingly the time I'd set aside to do it was all taken up by trying to get off the pedals. Ended up with a blowtorch on it and whacking the spanner with a brick which finally worked.

“Won’t” for non P/T line guards are they are rounded, it’s not a bearing roller like these…
