I was going to get that one, but as Jellybaby says, we ideally need colour for kid's stuff so went with the 150nw

Reminds me of my slaughterhouse story - the drain was blocked and the blood got so deep it was coming in over the tops of our wellies

I would like to make a small inscription on a couple of black leather belts.
Are these my best bet?https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-Metal-Leather-Stamp-Kit/dp/B0783J7PFM/ref=asc_df_B0783J7PFM/
Does pyrography work on black leather? -

How do I reply to my own post?
Its for continuity lol Im not just chatting away with mysen. -
• #114332
Don't think you can in the same way as I'm replying to you now, but if you copy what you want to reply to was and either use the quote button at the top of the text box or just paste everything after a > at the beginning of be a paragraph it'll read like a reply.

A link to your previous post
e.g. https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16687194/
is probably your best bet (should still work regardless of whether people are on ignore which means that the post numbers are different for different people) -

I like this better, why dint I think of that!

Disc fork, no mudguard mounts/eyelets. Options are attaching direct to fork blades or something like Quickguard.
Would it be possible to make an equivalent to the Axiom axle runners for thru axle? Or is there just not enough space/tolerance to have additional material between the hub and the inside of the dropout?

I haven't really been following the news in detail... Is public transport to/from and across London going to be a nightmare on Sunday? Are even more hoards of people expected to come for the funeral day?
-
• #114340
Loads of people are expected. The stations around Westminster are to be avoided. The rest of London will be fine.

TFL have very detailed info here and are generally very good at updating as things change: https://tfl.gov.uk/status-updates/major-works-and-events/travel-advice-for-the-mourning-period
Oops -meant to aim at @hoefla

Ta - looks like it'll be busy on Sunday but should be ok avoiding Waterloo to Green Park area. Was wondering whether it would be bad enough to warrant postponing a visit out of town (coming back Sunday) but I think I'll stick to my plans.

If I want to run some cat7 cable from inside my house through the wall, up the front of the house (behind a downpipe) and then back inside the house do I need outdoor spec cable or will standard be ok?
-
• #114345
It's fine for quite a while, eventually UV will degrade the cable outer but that might not happen in the time you still need it to work.
I have a short run that's been working for 5 years at least.

7?
-
• #114347
🤷♂️ I know nothing about this shit. I just want to get my internet to work
-
• #114348
7 is probably overkill and there are some added complications with termination. Domestically 1gb (Cat 5e capacity) is a lot of bandwidth.

• #114349
Ok got it. Thanks!

I think the stamps in your link will cut into the surface rather than make an imprint - this may not be a problem if the leather is dyed through (iron salts and tannin?) but may be an issue if the black is a surface finish not unlike paint.
I don't see why traditional pyrography wouldn't work, relying on a change in texture rather than colour. Branding and laser engraving both work with leather - just be aware of the smell if done indoors!
I've only ever used that type of stamp on metals - challenging to get the characters in line, and even more to achieve an even depth, giving a functional marking than anything aesthetic! The only time I have made a decorative leather stamp was a one-off using a CNC engraved acrylic stamp and a press, applied to wet leather for an hour or so - not conventional, but sufficient to customize MrsE's phone case.
You might get a better answer in the Crafts thread:

the city park that's built over the motorway is good, the slides are ace.
