Nice! Is there some recently imported wood chip / compost in there?

It’s an area of the allotment I haven’t touched for about 12 months

Not sure if they’re poisonous or not. Look a bit like a morrel

I'd say you might be right. Not sure if there're any confusion species, but defo be sure you're 100% sure you're 100% sure before consumption.

There are false morels (not edible) but they are likely the real deal if they're hollow inside but obviously only eat things you ID yourself.
They look good for morel though @Light_EDDed

I’ll dig them up tomorrow and take some pics.
That area is getting covered with cardboard and wood chip tomorrow.

Scotland is mad for mushrooms/foraging in general - found my first chanterelles (forgot to take pics), this pristine birch bolete and various other varieties on a couple of short walks around Oban. Also plenty of wild raspberries about - these from Oban Tesco car park

Finally got around to reading this after you recommendation last year. Absolutely fascinating and mind-blowing book - thanks for mentioning it.

Big chicken of the woods visible from the road on the left about 500m into the Toys Hill climb in Kent. Was going for it so didn’t stop but someone should go get it!

I know you can eat any fungi once but some won't kill you. I just found these in a quiet corner of my garden. Are they instant death?

A guy I know is a decent forager and takes interesting pictures of his finds if anyone is interested in his stuff on the 'gram.
