I haven't used itunes/apple music for yeeeears because it was horrible, anti-intuitive and annoying.
Now trying to sort out putting some tunes from my old itunes library onto an ancient ipod for my kids. Am getting nowhere fast. My library has a gazillion tunes in it, but when I plug in the device, i'm only offered about a dozen artists and all of my old voice memos and various other self-generated shit like un-named rough mixes of old band tracks. There seems to be no option for extending what's on offer.
Is there an an easy way of dragging a selection of my full library onto an old device? This seems like it should be pretty basic but I admit to being totally foxed.

Thought it looked really cool too. Still lightning though. WHY!!?

Not for now. InReach is rugged, uses Iridium and allows two way messaging.
iPhone is not rugged by default, uses GlobalStar and is for emergencies only. It does not allow free form texting as far as I understand. GlobalStar has less satellites, is less available because of this and is also less reliable because of this.
I get Search and Rescue insurance through my InReach membership. The InReach is one product from Garmin that I really stand behind. It is invaluable for me.

Can you add a single playlist? Think that was how I did back in the day

Are your gazillion tracks added to your library from Apple Music? Or proper mp3s/ripped/purchased? Because due to DRM you can’t copy the former across.

Gotta say that "dynamic island" is really fucking neat.

lol it's really called 'dynamic island', touch bar vibes to it.

..just watched a Marques Brownlee video on the event, and he said that during the presentation the crowd in the theater literally laughed out loud when they mentioned the name for the first time 😅

Last payment for my iPhone 12 mini in October, will see if prices go down a bit more as this might be the time to sell the 12 mini and get a (second hand) 13. Love the size of the 12 mini but think I'll try something just a tiny bit bigger.

I went from 7 (tiny bit bigger than a mini) to a normal size 13 and don’t regret it. The extra battery life and screen real estate is good.

To make loads of money.

no. its a pain and has been a pain for forever. You have to manually go through to do what you are trying and with older products there are always issues.
@JB ive personally had awful experiences with the inreach (messages not sending when I was working leading trips in NH) so I have soured greatly to the idea of ever relying on such devices.

Yes but the EU have now mandated USB C from next year. Surely they would have to change this model
-
• #19591
They'll just switch to Qi charge only next year.
-
• #19592
They may as well milk it for another few years. There's going to be another iphone or two before the deadline.

Lightning is far more solid/stable than USB-C.
USB-C, with the connections on a flimsy island in the middle of the connector, isn't really designed for constant plugging/unplugging.

Ugh. As the internal codename for iOS 16 is Sydney, Dynamic Island could have been fun with ‘Spectacle’ or ‘Snapper’ (or ‘Cockatoo’, ‘Clark’, ‘Shark’!). But no. #developersdevelopersdevelopers

Dynamic island sounds like an album referenced in that American Psycho monologue.

Dynamic island sounds like something that belongs in a 40k kitchen.

I love my 12 mini but the battery life is godawful at this point (2 years old) very tempted to get a 14 pro, but not sure I care for any of the colours, maybe the silver?
-
• #19598
not sure I care for any of the colours
put it in a case and then you basically can't see what colour it is anyway?
-
• #19599
Never used a case

livin on the edge
That should work. If you can’t find one, I bought a Roku express 4K so I could get Apple TV+ & Disney+ on a TV that couldn’t. Think they’re about £35.
