I use a couple of table spoons in 500ml water (this is for a filter machine)
Similar amounts in a kettle, and turn it on,.
You can see the limescale dissolving in the kettle.
If there is limescale still visible and no more action, add more citric acid.
I am sure someone on here did a test on blocks of metal and did no damage to anything even at high concentrations (apocryphal: do not take my word for it)
