• Openreach engineers are usually amenable to running the fibre to somewhere sensible, especially if the route is simple for them to access. If there is a draw wire in some duct in the disused chimney for example they are likely to be happy to use it.

  • It's not ducted tbh, just some cat 6 poked through and pulled down, but I could get a draw string ready for them potentially. My concern was that as I understand it fibre doesn't like being pulled round tight corners?

Other option is router in the left I guess, but there's no plugs up there and it's dusty/hot.

There is actually a pole at the back of our house, which clearly served our property once and would be more suitable. It currently serves a row of adjacent houses. Looking at the BT site they have full fibre available too, so I can only assume it's possible from that pole, but I know they wouldn't be keen as it's in a school ground so have to do it out of hours and get special permission etc.

Correct, that's why some sort of duct would help as you can ensure that doesn't have tight corners.

The ONT is probably okay being a bit warm. Maybe run power over Cat5 with some splitters over the existing cable?

Getting the line run to a different pole is likely to be hard. I think that needs a network planner rather than the Openreach engineer that turns up deciding to do it.
