Mortal internet enemies
Yeah so many keyboard warriors.
Only one case of a punch up.
But amazing friends, and many amazing people who help each other without having ever met.

That first tweed run was amazing. Rolling round the corner into (was it???) Hanover square, thinking it would be just a bunch of forum bods and then seeing the mass of tweed ensconced cyclists that teddy had brought there, was a sight to behold!
That was such a good ride!

That is a whole chapter in the book.

A perfect response, thanks my man. I can't even remember how ended up here back in 2008 but it was definitely East Drinks where I met real life people in the flesh for the first time and truly discovered what a bunch of hilarious, generous, enthusiastic, degenerate pissheads lurk on here. From there on in it was rides and polo and weird parties in warehouses and naked Dogsballs and who knows what other shenanigans. I dip in and out these days but there will always be a place in my heart for this sordid enclave. Viva La LFGSS!

I've only been on here proper for about 18 months, lurked for a long time before that. Hearing about the glory days, I wish I'd joined sooner. But having been on a badgers ride and met a few of you around the city, I can confirm the spirit is still alive. It's a bunch of really wonderful, generous people who go out of their way to help anyone else who loves bikes.

So many big names and dearly departed on that list. Thanks for posting Tim.
Was my first forum event(I lurked for a long time and turned down many ride invites), crippling anxiety back then prevented me for attending anything previously but an excuse to dress like a tosser won me over. Honestly, now I think about it Iโd be in a much different place in life without this forum and all of yโall fine people. My parents even turned up in full tweeds(cos my pa is a genuine old style bumpkin) and handed out flapjacks before the start.
I think I nervously traded a stem with @edscoble that day as well. -

It was actually going down Archway, before suicide bridge. Was definitely going a lot quicker than I'd like to have been going for my chainring to snap and fold over.

hey corndog I remember that too. was outside the Siobahn Davies Dance Studios in Elephant. Your sweet Soma was parked up outside when I left.
I had already joined the forum and like @mashton had heard about it in the 'special interests' section of whatever forum a number of us were on. didn't visit again after joining here but there were names like firsthippy, mashtonian, samsonite, jonnywilkinson that all switched across.
first time met many from here in person was on the Dunwich Dynamo 2007. Rode some of the way with John Ma3k and last section with @hippy. Just looked back at the old thread for it and some great names from back then and some still around - Stompy, DDM, Brett, Rob Slamm, Roberto, Scott (BRP), Tommy (the Brick) and many others.
have made some lifelong friends on here and have a few lifelong friends from prior to this place join it.
this place remains excellent. and always new faces, new bikes and new shit in general keeping it fresh.

Oh so it was after pizza? For some reason I thought it was just by The Woodman pub. Either way it was pretty rad.

Either way it was pretty rad.
Less rad was the maths geeks ride, or rides, to Bletchley
A slow one lead by Object given a head start by the fast group led by 6 pt.
The fast group passed the slow group at St Albans, 6 pt offering The Finger, while the slows were drinking coffee at an Italian place.
We were denied entry to Bletchley Park by a jobsworth so all went to the pub.

Just had a great forum ride memory; razzing around the Marathon course before they closed the roads (well, maybe some were already closed), fastest 28 miles Iโve ever done, must have been about 2010?
-

A few random images from my lfgss folder. I found this one hilarious but I can't remember why?

Also of note - the first couple of Tweed Runs where it was a bunch of fixie skidders with the odd thrift shop bit of moth-eaten tweed rampaging round town.
One of the early overnights to Brighton - had people round for dinner, then at midnight (to slightly incredulous reactions from wife and guests), changed and jumped on the bike to meet @Oliver Schick et al at Balham tube. Brighton by dawn(ish) and train back. Great ride.
