To use the closed cover (on the right of the “open” cover you highlighted), you need to buy a specific SL7 top cap.
This top cap, however is NOT part of the spacer/cover set. I needed to google an hour and compare photos and shit to understand and to track down the part number.
And then, funny enough, it isnt available in any German online shop, so you have to research Specialized retail dealers and email them. And guess how keen they are to organise you a €3 bit :-DD
This special top cap has a recess machined in around the head of the bolt where you clip in the closed cover
As I said initially, its freaking nuclear science from a customer’s perspective which drives me mad (but which on the other hand came as no surprise as I was used to this with my allez sprint already)
