This thread gets better with each post. Lovely sparklez.

True. It also might be that one step too far!
Looking great currently - excited for the big ST reveal!

excited for the big ST reveal!
same!
also, i'm quite enjoying the look of the incidental overspray on the workstand! -

Well, the pink definitely creates some contrast!
Cutting decals for the seat tube now. Hopefully I can do the first coat of sparkle clear later today or maybe tomorrow.

At this time, i'm just going to echo my previous compliments. I'm really loving how this is coming together. It gets better with every layer of paint.
What's the origin of the quote on the inside of the chainstay?

It’s a Sonic Youth song.
When I was building up the Bianchi Osprey my wife was quite ill, and passed away shortly after. I had that line repeating over and over in my head as I was doing stuff to that bike and trying to cope with what has happened, so it seemed fitting to write it on there.

It’s now gotten pretty ridiculous and over the top. I love it.
I’ve done the first coat of sparkle. I need to buy more and more gloss clear and then the painting is done.

Aha, there was something tickling in the back of my mind about that. It seems a fitting tribute.

Been enjoying this so far and looking forward to seeing it built up. Credit to you for photographing each stage! The paint looks incredible for a home project, the decal outlines really ice the cake

Thanks!
I guess being stuck at home with covid and in isolation hasn’t given me much else to do.

So close. Hopefully last few coats of sparkle and clear this week.

This is so good! I'm always really envious of anyone who can do projects like this and not royally cock it up.
Chapeau, man!

Sorry, I didn’t respond to this.
I use a Cricut Joy for all the vinyl cutting. It’s so easy to use.
As for the paint, it was fine. Maybe a bit more overspray than the other stuff I used, but no real issues.

Thanks for all the kind comments.
I rushed a few things, mostly getting the line straight between the black and white, but I’ll live it.
I also wish I did different sized eyes on the seat tube, but once again I’ll live with it.
I’m looking forward to finishing the painting. I thought tomorrow (Thursday) I would be out of isolation and could get more paint, but I have received any official confirmation yet. I don’t feel too bad sickness-wise, but I also don’t want to be that person that goes around flaunting rules, especially for something as meaningless as spray paint.

Smashing work, really impressive - well done

Wot they all said ^
Shit hot stuff.Re. Eyes, is it too late to add some small eyes in between the larger ones? I think it looks rad as it is, but if you wanted some variation it looks like there’s room.

Holy shit this is rad as fuck
Maybe. A lot of effort to disassemble it though. I’ll just leave them black.
