New to small wheels yes! “Normal” 700c/26er/29er at least only have one erd for their respective sizes (although why one is metric and the others imperial still confused me)

There are at least three different 26" rim sizes, more if you include all the 650s which are just as much 26" as any of the English and American varieties.
