Am I barking up the wrong tree with trying to change the bars?
They wouldn't make those bars if people didn't like them, but then they wouldn't put lightly swept MTB bars on most OTP bikes if most people weren't fine with them. A hundred or so years ago when I put together a similar bike for my then current squeeze I used the On-One Mary bar, which is a happy medium between straight and fully turned back. The wrist angle is pretty natural, and the sweep shortens the reach which will naturally make the torso more upright. I think before spending any money I'd get a few rides in and ask her where it hurts.

That's just a random photo I found of her on the bike when she first got it to give a vague idea of what the fit was like. Even with the saddle adjusted properly she still isn't quite happy with it.
It's all a bit of a stab in the dark as she neither rides any bike much, nor has much experience of riding so I'm not quite sure how to start fixing the problem. We just want to get out down the canal path as a family, and I wondered if making it more upright would help.
What do you reckon? Am I barking up the wrong tree with trying to change the bars?
