  • The Fly reboot?!

  • It did always make me wonder how much the big rubber logo on the arm of this era of aero jersey negated the aero benefit of the textured shoulders and arms.

  • James was definitely in a much better mood at the till of the pop up where I bought my second Raphas then years later when it went like:
'how are you?' and some trolling by me which I have conveniently forgotten and he said:
'aero sells everything', midday at Earth.

  • I’ve got plenty of aero jerseys on a ‘1 size too small basis’.

  • The real problem with the PT Aero Jersey is that it only fits perhaps 10% of the customers that try it on, yet it's the first jersey the design team turn to when they want to produce any special or limited edition (whether it's related to pro racing or not).
I'd love to know what the online returns rate is for that garment - it must overshadow the other jerseys by a factor of 10 or more.

  • ….all my jerseys have become increasingly ‘aero’ in the past few years 😖

  • I have two SS black aero jerseys from 1 season apart, one medium, one large, they both fit the same. By which I mean they don't fit.

  • lol - that's what happens when a different fit model is used for each respective size every year

  • Some of the Rapha fits are strange though. Across 7-8 years of Rapha bibs I have ones in both L and M that fit exactly the same and an XL that fits well but not perfectly. Jerseys (aero BS not withstanding) seem to fit more or less the same though.

  • About the fit, I have had to size down also through the years from Pro Team M to S bibs. Jersey size remained the same, but that can account to "other factors".

Durability on the other hand has made a nosedive last few years.

  • the logo for cyclists is just like spinach for Popeye

  • What do i want to wear over my brevet insulated jacket?

the issues i have are shoulders and knees which feel the cold and once get cold stay cold, if i layer up with bib longs and longs over the top i end up with too many layers and overheat my core, but think i have solved the lower half issue as i have some Pearl izumi wind/waterproof longs to go over some lighter weight sportful bibtights that don’t have much fabric over the middle. if it’s a bit warmer then decent bibtights do the job on their own.

The Brevet jacket works great over the shoulders and i can feel there is a layer of air doing it’s insulation thing. i have various windshells and a couple of heavier soft shells (castelli Mortirolo) but i want some kind of stretchy jacket that will breathe, be wind/shower proof but not a full on hardshell.

does such a thing exist? not a noisy rain thing that’s boil in the bag and not a long sleeve jersey as i have those too.
doesn’t have to be Rapha and if it’s in the sale even better.

  • Bro, it’s 30 degrees

  • thinking ahead.
(sorting out a wardrobe of clothing and looking at the sigmasport sale prompted the thinking)

  • some kind of stretchy jacket that will breathe, be wind/shower proof but not a full on hardshell

Shakedry jacket does almost all that better than anything else

  • Shakedry fabric has been discontinued by Gore so will only be available from any brand while stocks last. Rapha are sold out

  • Flyweight wind jacket is good over it. I wore that combo a lot during 1st lockdown winter including some pretty cold evenings. Warmth from the insulated jacket, keep it in with the flyweight jacket. Ok for a really light shower too

    @dbr rep

  • Who wears two jackets? Buy better base layers and jerseys.

  • How did you get on with this jacket? And, how did you find the sizing, I've seen some reviews on the Rapha site says it comes up small

  • Albion insulated jacket (or even the ultra light one)? I'm not sure it meets the stretchy criteria but it is smartly tailored and meant as top layer not a standalone thing. I've not tested mine yet (it's 30 degrees bro) but it packs into a jersey pocket and I got very warm very quickly trying it on in the shop which was surprising as it seems "lightweight". The 3.0 doesn't have insulation on the arms so it's focusing warmth on the shoulders / chest. I got a 2.0 in the sale but seems they are gone now

  • What an odd thing to say

2 jackets is more flexible, cheaper, and less to carry around. On a long ride in british or irish weather, esp in winter, that's valuable.

  • Some people do just feel the cold differently. I thought it was just weakness before but then I had some Ti installed in my leg after an off and I just run colder now, need moar now when the temp drops

  • If it works for you then great. But how is two jackets less to carry around than one set of well performing top layers that you don't need to take off / put back on?

@youramericanlover It wasn't a hardman statement. Just seems uncomfortable and bulky.

  • Because the top jacket (flyweight wind jacket) is amazingly small, and the insulated jacket I'm wearing anyway. Flyweight jacket + insulated jacket is the set of well performing top layers. For a day with variable weather, or at least where you're cycling day time and into cold evening, is there an 'outfit' you just wear and don't have to take off/ put back on?

  • Literally who the f wears two jackets lol
