I have poc knee and elbow pads.
Been wearing a leatt chest should and back protector since last summer. I went to a bike park in France and they insisted on body armour (loaned for free) and a decided I was more than happy to wear it.
Last week I took a spill on a berm and have a hideous bruise on my hip and thigh, so a set of leatt padded shorts are on their way.
I fall like a sack of spuds, don’t bounce like I did when I was younger.
You are fit enough that the extra weight won’t make much difference, I suspect I will wear summer shorts and jersey for more of the year as the protective kit underneath is slightly warming.
The body protection also has pockets so has helped me migrate away from needing a hip or back pack so much of the time, this allows better airflow around my body.

In other news- the guy I was riding with yesterday wears a POC chest/back protector.
We got chatting about it and he mentioned that there was no way he’d be riding what we were riding at the speed we were riding it without the armour.
As someone who has cracked ribs and partially deflated a lung in a crash I admit I’m starting to think about it.
Does anyone else wear more than knee pads when in high speed/high consequence terrain?
