Wear wool socks (minimum 70%) all year ‘round with either leather lined shoes or crocs (srsly, EVA stinks less than other plastics used in footwear).
And don’t wear shoes barefoot.

Or Bamboo socks, they're anti bacterial etc too and generally cheaper.
BAM have (had?) A sale on, 3 pairs of plain black bamboo socks for £6.

I havent tried spraying my feet, I just go to the shoe normally, exactly as @DethBeard said. I spray them with alcohol too. Not convinced the alchohol works, I've heard freezing can work but haven't done it.@goodhead and @jono84 thanks, these look reasonable too.
Thanks for the response, clearly something we all have to deal with from time to time. I had new shoes on and new socks on and my new shoes were starting to smell like my old shoes. I had them 2 days!
