Fair enough.
:D
For me there was just too much electronic and it had lost the energy and the jazzy feel from vol.1Sooo looking forward to Kokoroko's LP though (and the restart of the festivals very very soon now).

I'm a fan of electronic combined with jazz though so it worked for me. Myele has done quite a bit with electronic musicians so I think he does it well. He was awesome on the Theo Parrish live tour years ago for example.

Just received my vinyl copy of Sault's 'AIR' album today. It wasn't meant to be pressed until the end of the year, so that was a nice surprise.
Also received the email to say that Kokoroko's debut album is shipping to me tomorrow too. Two great records in the same week!😍 -

I got my own copy of Air (ordered on Bandcamp in May or June maybe) before last week-end.
Still not keen on it. That one may never grow on me. Which is fine.Loving the DoomCannon LP though.
Can't wait to catch him live! Also digging the Nimbus Sextet album on Acid Jazz records.

I'm also quite excited for the new album from The comet is coming.

I'm also quite excited for the new album from The comet is coming.
Ooh also excite!
I'm liking SAULT's AIR, it feels like a natural extension from the orchestral parts of Little Simz Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert. Feels like they were recorded at the same session.
I missed this when it was first shown in May, a BBC UK Jazz scene doc

Another great LP atm is "2061" by Polish outfit EABS.
Very Portico-esque to my ears but in more jazzy if that makes sense.

Yeah I ordered that the second they announced it. Got the vinyl a while ago.
The only track I don't like is the hip hop one. The rap is corny as fuck.Poland is putting out great stuff the last few years.

I've ordered that Doomcannon one - good shout, really into it.
I'm starting to build quite a good catalogue of jazz vinyl now - I think that means I've reached a certain stage of my life. I'm okay with it. -

OBVIOUSLY today is all about Kokoroko's Could We Be More.
I don't have my vinyl copy yet but streaming and smiling big time.
Absolutely loving it. Soo good (and I'm only on track #2)
Can't wait for We Out Here!Does anyone know why Oscar Jerome left the band? A huge shame if you ask me.

Just given DoomCannon a first listen, love it, will give it a battering tomorrow.
Kokoroko currently playing, that bass on the first tune, wow! -

I’ve been listening to jazz influenced hip-hop and techno all my life, but I didn’t have a bluesbrothersseenthelight.gif until my mid-forties, after hearing Coltrane’s Cousin Mary on the radio. I then of course have been spending all my disposable income on Jazz vinyl and CDs ever since.
Listened to to the Kokoroko album today, very good!

28 years since I last saw Fred Wesley live. Back then the popular demand to see funk masters who influenced hip hop was massive.
For me it was Public Enemy and their peers sampling incredible funk riffs to produce ground breaking tracks overlaid with social commentary.
Last night was no different, providing us with a master class in musical styles from jazz, blues paying tribute to mentors and contemporaries from Pee Wee Ellis, Maceo Parker, James Brown, Earl Kugh, George Clinton.
The New J.B.s were solid, tight yet playful drawing us (the audience) to chant a bunch of chorus lines. From Pass the Peas to House Party..
Fred’s warmth and generous spirit to stay, chat after his live set will remain a lifetime experience for me.
The only disappointment was Mike Vitti absence (playing at Mi Soul Margate) upstairs after hours, the playlist was definitely not funky nation.. just old man lazy DJing.

^^^ Nice! Saw them a few years back, and were also equally good.

Shabaka Hutching's first solo recording came out in May, which I missed. No saxophone, different woodwind instruments, all played by Shabaka. Really nice and mellow, similar vibe to Nala Sinephro or Floating Points Promises
