  • Nice frame, if only it was size M! Didn't realise how similar the two frames were geometry-wise

  • Hey there,
I just came across this space on my search for a Swiss Cross frame size 57/L. If anyone knows of an ad, please let me know

  • Buzzing to start building this up

  • I take it thats the proper bag it comes in as well.

  • So good, I hope there's a project thread coming!

  • I've just picked up a rim brake road logic breakaway with an S&S coupler hard case.

I'm currently gathering parts for a x1 build, biggest win so far is it easily has clearance for 28s, perhaps even 30s

  • Ooh sounds awesome! Also building 1x, kind of makes the most sense doesn’t it really, if it’s going to be taken apart

The breakaway bag is pretty nice and comes with all the tube sleeves etc. I might also see if I can sew a soft/foldable cordura version in the same size that I’ll be able to fit in a pannier or saddle bag for touring

  • I was really tempted by one of these the geo didn’t really suit me though.
    Wireless shifting?

  • Yeah the geo is a bit tight, I would have preferred it a fraction larger all over tbh, but think it will be OK!
Mechanical; sram 1x11 + juintech gt is the plan!

  • This is how things stand for me. I’m hoping to keep things very simple, no cable splitters (I’ll remove the calipers if I need to. Also going to have an experiment with friction shifting, I’ve got some gevenalle levers and some microshift bar end shifters. I’m leaning towards the bar end shifter to keep the amount of exposed cable to a minimum.

  • I find it's a lot easier when you drop the fork out, I put the rear triangle under the first wheel, if that makes sense, as it angles it up neatly and then you can put the fork, stem, mech etc underneath that, then the front triangle, then the other wheel. I use the velcro-padding strips to wrap the painted parts before stowing them away. Biggest pain is wiggling the handlebars into place.

  • This stuff, what I should probably do is to lay it out and then stitch it into a complete front triangle and rear triangle cover, but because I'm too lazy I just fit the lengths where they look like they make sense each time.

  • Looking great. Always loved this paint job

  • @pdlouche made me a toote style bag and it works very well! For padding maybe pick some Eva Foam or cardboard locally?

  • Oh nice. Can you send me a pic maybe?
Yeah that’s what I was thinking, have it fold down small and light but, maybe with internal sleeves on the side to stuff in cardboard

  • Is it still going??!!

  • Probably want to pack a few more bits before flight

  • It's still going great, mostly use it on buses and trains to be honest, so not that much ware and tare.

  • How do people deal with airlines when booking your luggage with a breakaway. I’m unlikely to make the weight limit for a normal bag but I don’t want to book for bike as the case is significantly smaller than normal bike box. it’s Ryanair so I assume I’m going to get screwed either way.

  • Well, I've risked just booking as a large hold bag. The case is well within the required dimensions and the current weight is 15kg, that's with wheels, fame, fork, chainset and handle bars and shifts. So hopefully once I've added the mech, chain, peddles, seatpost, shoes and some cloths it'll be about the limit of 20kgs.

Still cost £119 return and £11 extra for each 1kg over the 20kg.

  • Slow reply but that’s what I’ve done with mine before, no issue.

I thought I remembered the max being 23kg not 20, but maybe I was EasyJet not Ryanair…

  • Test ride done to work this morning ✅ Bit of rotor/pad adjustment needed but otherwise feels brilliant

  • love the colour :-)

  • Dam, looks brilliant fun, where's it first trip going to be ?

You've put me to shame, I've got all the parts, just not got round to building it yet.

I've mainly been installing and removing headset, the first two (king & Hope) the top bearing cover was so snug on the fork steerer I could hardly move it with out the help of a rubber mallet, which isn't ideal in the circumstances. I've now fitted a cheap Ritchey one which is better but still not easy, but it can be done by hand at least.
