To my surprise, I think I need a running vest, as my merino t-shirt is too warm for current temperatures. Any recommendations?

Most comfortable thing I've ever worn in hot weather is my Wiggle own brand dhb running vest. Very lightweight, nice cut and smooth on the skin.

+1 for the Wiggle own brand stuff. Got a couple of them a week or two back for cheap. In fact, they're still 50% off.

I’d recommend some strength and recovery work
..the idea is to do that on the "off" (non-running) days, yea?

Hi all, I'm selling on a pair of barely used Hoka Clifton 8 size UK9. They felt great in the shop but began to pinch my toes after 3 miles. Really annoying they are too scuffed to return. Great shoes though, really light and responsive, medium cushioning and arch support.
Paid £130, after £100 or best offer.

I'm based in Lewisham park if you want to try them out, run round the block.

Just went for a 6km run with 520m vertical meters at 2000m altitude and I can confirm that running up and down the same hill in Greenwich Park for three years does not prepare you for that. 👌

Jealous! Where are you?

While in Spain, I’ve managed two runs from the beach up hill, which were great - proper sweaty at the end.
Can someone tell me my Achilles’ tendons will like me again and stop being sore?
(It’s obviously insertional tendinitis rather than an easy one to fix) -

Where are you?
Obergurgl for a few months. Either I'm going to get very fit or very fat, depending on what my appetite for suffering is.
-
• #27741
I can't offer any encouragement other than look after your calfs. In my experience, Achilles pain at the insertion point has always come from tight calf muscles. YMMV of course.
-
• #27742
This makes sense. 2 back to back days of running up a long hill and back down it, with zero stretch time ever. Hello calf stretching or theragunning.

Not sure if this is the right place for this. But here goes.
I have built up some decent running fitness and have had little to no time on the bike. I have a hilly multi day ride planned in for early September. I have about 2 x 1hrs and 1x 2hrs a week where I can train. How best to spend my time...?
Do I need to post this on a different thread?
-
• #27744
I would try to get in as long rides as you can. The running helps me for harder efforts on the bike, but I brush up on endurance when I switch between the two. The other way around is harder I think.
-
• #27745
Yeah, that's what I thought but I'm relatively time starved. So some sort of endurance intervals...? I should mention that I've never actually trained riding, only running. But it's been a long time off the bike.

Just had one of my best days in the mountains. Mountain guide suggested I should test my fitness with a 12km route with 1100m of up and 1100m of down. It's a mixture of trails, scrambling and a touch of grade 2 climbing at the end (perhaps 30m of vert). It's a high route too, peaking at 3000m.
The goal was to get to the top in less than 3 hours and back to the town within 4.5 hours.
Just did it in 3hr 0m 20s there and back. A near 1.5 hour PR for 2,000 vert meters.
With apologies for the boast post but hopefully some of you guys will know that this is still slow AF so not really a boast...just delighted that the miles I have put in my legs in London seem to have paid off. This chubby Londoner might have some hope yet.
I'm shaking like a leaf...might have overcooked it!
