I cut through on the back roads and am still much further north. Got hotel at Straubing. After freezing in a park last night when it got down to 4c.

i recall quite a few close passes from german drivers if there happened to be a cycle path (of literally any quality) adjacent to the road. A friend of mine got close passed then the driver stopped down the road to lecture him and asking was he trying to get himself killed etc

No problems on roads where there was no cycle path.

You haven't cycled in Germany unless some asshole in a car yelled RAAAADWEEEEEG at you while texting and swerving all over the road.

Really? I had much fun in Germany. Then again, I make fun everywhere or maybe I'm just easily amused. We had a mad afternoon night if a beer hall in Munich the last time I was there. We filled a table with random people from all over the world for a birthday girl, steins were broken, oompa bands were doing our requests, yada yada. Guess it depends where you go. I was in my 20s and single then so probably different vibes too. I need to go back and see if I can get pensioner discount on the beers
