Nah, new frame with a threaded bb shell should sort it ;P

Does Shimano measure their flange distances outside to outside? I ask because the one I have measured centre to centre is closer to 63 or so. Guess it doesn’t make a lot of difference to a wheel build, but it’s curious to me.

Does shimano measure their flange distances?
I've never found measurements from shimano themselves.

yes

So it seems, thanks.

A follow up to the above - front qr was loose

I think it was tester that mentioned if you add ‘docs’ to your Shimano component search, useful results will appear.

Go to si.shimano.com and look for your thing.

Think you’re talking to M_V there.

Adding on useful information innit.

Right, thanks

I’ve known about the tech docs for a while but had never found dimensions amongst them before.
Possibly because I’ve been fucked over by manufacturers incorrect dimensions before so do tend to measure everything myself now!
-
• #2543
True that, why I asked that first question!
Even if technically correct, the numbers are useless if they don’t state exactly what they’re measuring. -
• #2544
A small flange distance error will add almost nothing to the spoke length
-
• #2545
I’ve found manufacturers that have listed the distance from the locknut in to the flange as the distance from the centre of the hub out to it, pcds that are wildly wrong or are actually flange distances…

Does the GX 11 spd gripshift work with Rival 1 derailluers?
-
• #2547
I had a big SRAM compatibility chart come through from Raleigh earlier, but I didn't bother opening it. What does the shifter and mech say in relation to actuation ratio, if it's the same thing, yes, if it's similar then no.
-
• #2548
GX is X actuation and the mech is exact actuation, so no.
-
• #2549
Yep, saw the pull ratio on Arts Cyclery just now but cheers for looking! Will have to re-think my grando-build now, for flat bar. S700 trigger works but I want to dump gears! Could fit my Sram barend shifter maybe...hmm.

@snottyotter But would a 11 speed x-actuation rear derailleur work with a 12 speed shifter that is x-auctuation?
Cheers, will take a look at those.
