Never had anything about the power plant but I imagine that's because we can see it from my parents back window, so anything going on there is likely to kill them before an alarm would be heard.
Abkut five years ago I was walking past Sizewell B on the beach with my wife and we were caught in a torrential downpour so we dashed for cover under a tree right by the nuclear site fence. Whilst standing there we noticed a very strong smell of chlorine. Enough to make our eyes water. Sure enough, alarms started going off and two nuclear constabulary 4x4s bombed it down the beach to get everybody to leave immediately.
Turns out there'd been a smallish chlorine spill from a tank. No harm done to anything or anybody AFAIK.
It's quite a spooky experience to be standing by a nuclear power station when the alarms start going off!
