Absorbs? I’m no physicist but don’t dark surfaces convert light energy into heat which radiates into the adjacent area, ie, the air adjacent to the weather station - especially if it’s downwind?

Its a bit more about infrared radiation than visible light I think but thats being a bit nitpicky.
