Very good - looked at that - struggling to remember why i went samsung - it was hot and i was fed up of squinting at a tiny screen. Will arrive today - have joyously discovered we do own a motivational art piece and can easily buy a shit plant from sainsbo's so all's well.

Ours is fairly much don't ask, don't tell (particularly my dept which runs loads of non-standard software). I assume the thinking is that if it doesn't require admin rights it can't damage that much (dubious reasoning I know).

My standing desk should be arriving today. Anyone want an old Ikea Malm desk?

Fuck me. Building this Flexibollocks desk is going to do more damage to my back than not using a standing desk...

We're up and running. Sit/Stand mofos. Only took 5 years to do it properly.

Finally got my GF the WFH set-up she deserved all along:

Just waiting on the vertical laptop stand to arrive to free up some desk space and help keep it cool / fan noise down.

Come the short days of winter I will also sort her a backlight for the screens to to reduce eye strain.

Lovely looking thing with nice build quality and lots of ports.

The only thing is if I plug my current old screen's hdmi into the hub then I need to unplug everything whenever my laptop* goes off and spend ages fucking around to get the screen to come back on again.

Idk if it's to do with using an hdmi to dvi or my laptops settings. Either way until my new screen comes it's just sitting there.

Thanks, as I work in IT I was always slightly pained to see her having anything less that productivity perfection!
Also to @Brun who very kindly 3d printed me an under desk mount for her lenovo thunderbolt dock which was the main contributor to desk mess.

I've worked out how these sit/stand desks work - they make your feet sore, so instead of groaning about back pain, you moan about foot pain. Clever.

They take getting used to.

Start with an hour a day standing... increase as you feel comfortable. End up with a mix of sitting and standing.

I mean, I know. I'm quite adept at transferring pain to other body parts. :)

Not gonna stop me documenting my new toy in unnecessary detail.

I did experiment with standing work years ago - think it was a cupboard door stacked on top of my speakers :)

Well I've cracked and ordered an aircon unit. Should turn up tomorrow.

Well I'm not having children so I don't for consequences beyond my lifetime... the SUV drivers can deal with it.

I got one delivered yesterday, and was feeling pretty pleased with myself, until I discovered the PCB was somehow damaged in transit.

They'll be collecting it again on Monday in 40° heat, and I guess I'll be spending more time in the office until it's replaced.

We have one bought 2 years ago, arrived when the heat wave broke and so never used. Got it out last week, made my youngest a bit more comfortable.
