Is it time to stop referring to bikes as ‘slave’, hhsb etc? I know the forum history, tynan, fake article blah blah, but it just doesn’t sit right anymore. Longtime member, infrequent poster xx

I have also had this thought. There was quite a lot of soul searching at peak BLM (and rightly so) which lead to some changes in name for some threads, but weirdly all the “Slave” threads flew completely under the radar. Seems odd, you’d think they’d be the first for criticism.

This did spark sound outrage (by one user anyway) some time ago (a long time), which didn't come to much

That covers all of current projects.

In the past several of us have advocated for a dedicated subforum for bike photo threads. Mostly so we can ignore them all with a single click, rather than the current piecemeal option.
-
• #19447
What the forum needs now is a big 'I have no interest in bikes' button, which cuts out all that nonsense, so we can get on with the important job of complaining about stuff

I've honestly never understood the use of slave when discussing bikes. I assumed it was a code/slang thing. Where does it come from?
Yes, they posted a few days ago about it
