Our MP is libdem, and I'll probably keep on voting them in, as it's a very blue / yellow seat.
They started leafletting this morning.
I haven't even bothered reading the bumph, because what's the point of the libdems any more?

This is a Conservative leaflet being delivered in Norwich, mainly in areas where there is strong Labour support.
Voters will, of course, require photo id to vote in the upcoming local elections.

Jesus. That’s about as bad as it gets
The only hope is that only those thinking of voting Tory will read their pamphlets, so should harm their own vote

So the gaza vote has descended in to full shambles with the MP's appearing more upset about protocol being respected than what's happening in gaza

what even is Britain if not these ceremonies?

Has the Speaker fucked up in some way?
-
• #518
It's an SNP motion on an opposition day so I think some people see Labour being allowed to put an amendment as a big opposition party railroading a small opposition party. It kinda defeats the purpose of giving the SNP an opposition day.
Recently opposition days are just symbolic posturing without much purpose anyway.

I think I just read Speaker was then given advice he had broken precedent which is clearly verboten

This shit makes me laugh. Precedent Vs "parliament is sovereign"

We have a no confidence in the speaker motion going in
That escalated quickly

Starmer doesn't come out of this well. The papers last weekend were briefed that Sue G was a bit shit at the actual politics bit. Do bears shit in the woods?
-
• #523
I don't think this really impacts on Starmer. It's all a bit technical and not easily summed up.
Labour on the other hand get to say they passed a motion calling for a ceasefire but the Tories are ignoring it. It's worked out pretty well for them
Edit: like this
-
• #524
Agree, this doesn't really affect Starmer. The Speaker is the only one who gets the heat.
Let's not forget, the SNP were using their own motion to try to split Labour.

the SNP were using their own motion to try to split Labour
Yeah, they were trying to make it about Labour rather than Gaza. While Hoyle let Labour off the hook, he paved the way for Parliament to have what passes for a grown-up debate about the issue rather than partisan point-scoring. I had the radio on for part of what transpired, and it was fucking embarrassing how the SNP shat the bed. Gaza didn't get a mention.
