looking forward to pushing my bike up all these

Not to worry. I've not included the evil which is Claypit Hill!
The rest will be ridden at whatever pace people want to do them, with me looking forward to seeing just how low those Pinion gears will go
Any whippets can take time at the top to compare power data and check their current KOM status, whilst patiently waiting

Aw I'm sad I'm not doing this ride.

Time to start your own local chapter!
-
• #287
I may take inspo from @BareNecessities ; leave my frame bag on and put on some flat pedals
-
• #288
Looks like I'm unlikely to make this as Greater Anglia won't give me a bike reservation for the journey. Oddly they can't actually tell me why this is...depsite numerous visits by me and emails from their ticket office to the relevant person in charge etc, etc.
-
• #290
I've been told by the 2 regular travellers above that they've never needed a reservation on that service ( despite the website mentioning it ) so I've not bothered on this occasion ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I know trains the weekend after are messed up as they don't want to accommodate bikes from the Dunwich Dynamo
-
• #292
I asked about the Dynamo a few weeks ago (as I wanted to do that as well) and they have cancelled all reservations for that weekend completely.
I didn't want to book it without one and turn up to be told that there is no space as that would piss me off no end. If there are 6 spaces then surely there should be 6 reservations available!

Perhaps all the strike action is making rail staff feel less than helpful?
No strikes planned for the 9th, and from what I can find out, the unions have to give 2 weeks notice
-
• #294
Actually, the ticket staff were all really helpful but possible I guess. (They thought it odd as well and one did mention that it might be linked to the possibility of strikes). I've calmed down a bit now as I was bit pissed off earlier so may go for your 'book and hope approach'...
-
• #295
It's particularly annoying that when I have booked reservations on other train services in the past, nobody's even checked them!
More of us there are, the easier to overpower the conductor

Trying to think of what could cause a train to be busy at 08:32 on a Saturday morning...
-
• #297
Absolutely no idea!

I've never really tried to work out the timing before, but going by previous rides:
Chingford station to the tea hut - 1hr
1st break - 30min
Main loop - 2hr ( this will probably has a few stops in it, so not a slog )
2nd break - 1hr
Tea hut back to Chingford station - 1hr ( probably less as it's mostly downhill )
I'd really like to start the ride at 11:30, so please try to be at the station before then, if you need to faff about with your bike, go to the shops etc :-)
-
• #299
I will add that 'the' tea hut isn't compulsory, so feel free to go across to the cafe or pub or ice-cream van or whatever
Maybe you've brought all your own food and want to sneak off for some quiet?* No problem :-)
*possibly me

Judging by the lack of responses, I'm just going to assume you're all happy being told what you can and can't do on the day...
Sub 60⁰, what could possibly go wrong?!
