After grappling with chords, finger positions and shapes etc. my early lessons involved arpeggios, where my homework would include fingerstyle practice with the following rules
- P (pulgar) - thumb down on E-A-B strings
- I (induce) - index up on G string only
- M (medio) - middle up on D string only
- A (anilo) - ring up on high E string only
Followed by holding chord positions picking through, switching between C-A chords (easiest) and D-G chords (hardest)
I still do this for warm up / practice most days.
- P (pulgar) - thumb down on E-A-B strings
I kind of want to start from scratch re: fingerstyle.; I've realised I've developed a method where I don't use my index finger. At all. Very weird.
