Is it? Given the amount of time and effort devoted to optimising performance, having a rider decide he wants his saddle height changed in a race seems like a risk to me. We don't have the full story, of course, but I'd expect any team that wants to get the best out of their riders to have an opinion on this.
I think the point Matt Winston makes is interesting too: the cycling press love this DSM-is-a-crazy-cult angle so don't feel the need to speak to DSM management on a story before publishing.
